2021 OSU……Success or Disappointment?

"after your worst finish in years" You are correct. OU finished 11-2 and #10 in the country…in one of the most disappointing seasons in years. They were a play away from beating one of the best OSU teams in the last 30 years.

1.) “They’ve been on this damage control tour telling everyone OU is about the players, we’re a great school, yada yada” So…programs dont sell the positives? You mean that during the closing months of the recruiting season, which is the lifeblood of your program, OU was putting a positive spin on things? You mean during the transition from one regime to the next, OU was talking about the future and how bright it would be? You mean Joe C, Bob Stoops, the Board of Regents, Pres Harroz, the Alumni shouldve come up and said how scared and nervous they were that their program was going to collapse? Youre right…OU shouldnt have gone the route THAT EVERY, SINGLE BUSINESS OR SPORTS ENTITY goes when they are selling their product. I cant wait for Gundy or any other coach on signing day say “man, our class was not very good. We didnt get what we wanted. Times are going to be tough ahead people”. LSU, Oregon, and any other program does the exact same thing. The fact that you somehow take that as a sign of doom and gloom…is another example of your hatred for OU blinding your ability to use common sense.

2.) “Pumping the breaks on the conference change. Everyone thought it was imminent, now we’re talking about waiting for TV contracts being up in '25.” Where in the hell are you pulling that from? The OU brass had never once said anything publicly about leaving before 2025. Not one single person from the University of Oklahoma has ever said otherwise. That again, is your hatred for OU blinding your ability to use common sense.

"What’s the expectation for this year?" My expectation is that they will be a much, much better PROGRAM in the long run. I think they will instantly be a tougher, more physical football team. The on-field expectation for me is that they will play for the Big 12 title. You stated earlier that they had one “of the worst finishes in years”…and they finished 3rd in the Conf. I think they can find a way to get to Arlington. Go check out the Vegas futures for the 2022 season. So again, I think theyll be fine in Norman.

"Great, you replaced your coach. You got new talent. There’s no guarantee any of it works: the chemistry, the continuity, any of it" Youre right. It could go either way.

"You act like you support their accomplishments… until those accomplishments threaten OU. Then you try to scoff at them and you start throwing shade" Thats an inaccurate depiction my man. I speak to how I see it. You just are too much of a fan-boy to be impartial. I have criticized OU when needed. Ive done the same with OSU. Youre hatred for OU blinds you.

Id like for you to tell me what you expect OU to do in 2022? Do you think they play for the Big 12 title? Do you think they make the playoff? How many losses do you think OU has in the regular season? Just curious

I was on this site for a year or so before I ever posted. I like the site. The content is really good and it covers a ton of stuff. I originally came because it had some OSU baseball stuff that I needed. I stayed because of the content. Ive never trolled OSU stuff. Having an opinion that is negative isnt trolling or “stirring the pot”. The most negative thing Ive said is that the OSU defense was the best in this Conf full of bad defenses. It was not an elite defense. That is not stirring the pot. Its having an opinion. Some of you guys are WORSE than the OU fans who think everything in crimson and cream is the bees knees

Lol bad take and big miss here. Even the worst OSU fans are better than most of the decent OU fans, I’m sure you consider yourself a “good “ OU fan and yet here you are scrolling through an Oklahoma state blog

Why does “scrolling through an OSU blog” make me some negative or bad OU fan?

Heres when Cowboy fans are the worst: When OSU wins. Theyre terrible to deal with. Not all of them of course.

Heres when the Sooner fans are the worst: When OU loses. Theyre terrible to deal with. Most of them of course. You two guys are just sensitive because Im an OU guy who doesnt get on here and say OSU is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Every program has flaws my man. When you guys legitimately say something negative about OU, it doesnt hurt me. But you guys dont do that. The only Trolling thats being done between you, jake and myself…is not by me. You guys are the ones saying outlandish stuff like programs crashing and burning and so on. You instantly lose credibility

Im nearing the end of this entanglement with you ladies. Start making some efforts at legitimate discusiion or youre going to have to move on

Lol not sensitive buddy just calling it like I see it! If you don’t wanna be called out go back to your sooner blogs y’all can all hype up Dillon Gabriel as the next heisman winner and future #1 pick

See…thats trolling. Not once have I said anything remotely close to that.

Lol okay

“can all hype up Dillon Gabriel as the next heisman winner and future #1 pick”.

If you go find one single post of mine where I said anything remotely close to that, I’ll delete my account & never post on here again.

Never said ya did buddy it was a joke not a d*ck don’t take it so hard

OK, circling back to how dumb this post was.

Me: Your house is on fire.
Catsup: Nu-uh, look at all the new furniture we bought.
Me: Look, you had to call the fire department.
Catsup: DUH! Should we have let it burn down?!
Me: I thought it wasn’t on fire?
Catsup: Uh, would we buy all this cool furniture if our house was on fire?
Me: Didn’t you buy that furniture because your super luxury Chippendale furniture was destroyed in a fire and now you have some new Mathis Brothers furniture?
Catsup: Uh, Mathis Brothers furniture is more comfortable than Chippendale furniture.
Me: You were really bragging on that Chippendale furniture, though…
Catsup: THERE WAS NO FIRE. YOUR DEFENSE WAS JUST ALL RIGHT.

@jake4 What in the wide world of dumbassery was that?!?! Just when I thought you couldn’t get any dumber…….you totally redeem yourself!!:joy::joy::joy::joy:

You also failed to answer my question. What do you think OU will do, record wise, in the 2022 season?

3rd, 4th in conference.

Everyone wants to credit the facility upgrades for Gundy’s success, and they definitely helped, but we aren’t the only program to upgrade our facilities. Our stadium isn’t elite anymore. It is nice, but there are several like it, or better that we compete against, yet we still keep winning. Perhaps Gundy had something to do with the success also? We still outperform the quality of the stadium, tbh.

OU will finish 3rd or 4th in 2022. Got it. You may be right. We shall see. I do find it pretty comical that you say OU’s program “crashed & burned” and it’s “a dumpster fire”……….yet you project them to finish 3rd or 4th. Here are the last 5 OSU finishes in the Big 12: 3rd, 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd. They’ve had an average finish of “3rd or 4th”. Why do you say a projected finish of 3rd/4th is a sign of destruction for OU………while OSU ACTUALLY finishing of 3rd/4th is not?

What are the reasons why you think they’ll finish 3rd or 4th?

New system offense and defense, new coach, new QB. I’m picking them that high because Iowa State is resetting. They’ll be better than WVU, KU, Tech, and Texas just by showing up, though they could lose to Texas. Iowa State and TCU are resetting. The league doesn’t look very strong next year, though there could be surprises.

Could OU win it next year? Sure. Could they finish 7th? Sure. They’re a question mark. There’s no continuity or stability. That’s a place they haven’t been in a while. You can say they’re just doing what every team does, talking up their team, but they’re in damage control mode. OU doesn’t just call random press conferences to tell everyone how great everything’s going like they did after Riley left. They know they’re at a dangerous place right now. If they limp into the SEC, they might not recover. They could end up being Nebraska especially with how the game is changing.

I agree with the possibility of nearly everything you said, even the Nebraska possibility. The lone exception is OU calling a presser after Riley left. Dude, their HC left out of nowhere…….two weeks before signing day. They had to go into damage control. Surely you understand that and don’t honestly think it was some Hail Mary act of desperation.

I think you’re on the low side where they’ll finish, but that’s ok. I’m willing to admit that ALL of the changes can backfire. You need to admit that there’s a chance that Venables, Smchidt and the new regime could also make this program better. I think it will be better, much better long term. I think BV is going to build this thing on a lot more solid foundation than what Lincoln did. But we can wait and see. I say OU is playing for a Big 12 title next year. I appreciate the legitimate discussion
