Nelson picks OSU over offers from OU, Colorado and others.
He definitely a play makers, but 5’9: is had to get my head around.
With a name like Willie Nelson, how can he not be a Cowboy lol.
A friend of mine lives in that area and follows Longview HS football closely. He thinks he’ll be a good addition.
Will the red headed stranger red shirt ?
Yea I don’t think 5’9” will cut it with the 6’4” receivers much. Maybe I’m wrong, I hope so. Maybe he plays bigger
Muhammad was about the same size and he played well for us the last couple years
He’ll be at LEAST 5’11” when he gets here 6’ when he hits the field
“at LEAST 5’11” when he gets here 6’ when he hits the field”
You sound extremely confident about a guy getting 3 inches taller his Sr yr of HS. Guys will put on weight……not many grow taller at that age. I’m not saying it’s unheard of, but guys are typically as tall as they’re gonna get by that time. Also, the height of a guy usually gets fudged in the right direction. You’ll see a guy listed at 6-0 & he’s really 5-10. Happens all the time. I’m saying a 5-9 17yr old is extremely likely to be 5-9 when he’s done playing in college.
Let’s just say I’m pretty high on Willie Nelson .
On willy or his products
Yes
If ou wanted him as a cornerback then that worries me. .
I think Willie has test approved all his products !! lol
Some of us 5’10 & 5’11 guys have springs in our knees or did at some point in our lives LOL. Also more quick and agile. It can be difficult to post up a guy in the end zone on a jump pass or must have first down catch. Most corner backs are 5’8"-6’. He could be disruptive in other areas other than physical attributes which can be very effective. I love Courtland Finnegan type players.
I don’t think many people understand why most corners are under 6’. I’m not bragging on myself but I was 5’10-5’11 playing/starting CB for 3 years in highschool, tried out and played some stuff after highschool too. It takes more than physical size to play that position too. Being smart and intelligent too helps a lot. A guy could bait a quarter back and really get under a wide receivers skin could really effect a game. This player from my town bartlesville who went to K-state named AJ Parker might be smaller than this guy, who made the roster with the Detroit Lions seems to be doing ok. His 40yard run is in the 4.5 range. He’s very intelligent, quick, athletic, and can read offenses pretty fast. He sealed the deal for K-state vs OU twice with game ending picks. If this was a SS or FS I could understand the complaints on the height issue.
You remember when Rudy would throw the ball high to Ateman ? Almost always a first down. Ateman had strong hands too. Wasn’t a chance for a 5’9” CB to strip it much
Yeah I remember, you remember James Washington? Wasn’t tall but could high point over people. I would love us to get another biletnikoff award finalists or winner. I sorta feel like we got screwed on the last one. I tell you what I’d like to have a couple of Tyreek Hill guys on the field at the same time geeze, the damage we could do with 2 at the same time on the field. Tbh honest I like a tall wide receiver but I love speedsters. Can’t remember the coaches name but he coached Florida and he loved to go after receivers that ran a 4.3 40yd dash. His starting line up he had 3 guys on the field. I don’t think it was Spurrier, it could be.
