Now do defense.

Makes you wonder what Dunn could do with a professional QB like Mason Rudolph.

Turn him into a QB who rolls through Cleveland

Total Yards is generally misleading (just ask the 2011 defense).

Yards Per Play Allowed - National Ranking

2018: Knowles - 97th
2019: Knowles - 81st
2020: Knowles - 31st
2021: Knowles - 4th

2022: Mason - 92nd

2023: Nardo - 121st
2024: Nardo - 110th

Just comparing stats for Knowles and Nardo in Year 1. As a reference.

the thing is we need a complete rebuild

new OC, DC, O Line Coach, TE Coach

but if you are going to do all that you may as well let Gundy ride off into the sunset and let someone else bring in their people

What’s a TE coach? Is that a new position recently created by some offensive wizard?

is that a serious question…

Did Knowles progress in year 2?

Given nardo’s starting place and trajectory, we might actually get up to 60’s ish after his 4th year. Yayyyy

Trigger warning ahead @Dribble. A podcast is mentioned.

Finally got around to listening to the “Another Meltdown in Manhattan” pod. @CarsonCunningham and Colby did a great job as always. You all are my Cowboy counselors.

But, I’m not as optimistic as they are that changes are coming. Even if we finish 6-6 I’m not certain Gundy won’t retain Dunn - and I’m definitely not sure Weiberg is ready for or willing to fight that battle.

And for those looking for sweeping changes, I’d put the O/U at 1.5. I don’t think more than 2 coaches are fired and/or retire. And I think there’s about a 5% chance Nardo is let go after Gundy took a massive swing on him 2 years ago.

I think that Dickey retires after this season.

Nardo is gonna get at least one more year even with how awful the defense has been.

The more I’ve thought about it since Saturday the more I don’t think Dunn or Rattay get fired unless we miss a bowl game. I also don’t think Chad can/is willing to force Mike to make changes Mike doesn’t want to make.

Agree on all of this but Dunn. I think, if he doesn’t have another one of his famous (infamous) turnarounds he’s toast after this year. Mike is getting too much heat on it and keeps having to do his job for him.

Uhhhh, no, I was joking. I thought the wink gave it away.

And honesty I don’t think Nardo should be fired. I won’t object if he is, but that’s the problem with bringing a guy up from D2.

You have to throw out the results from the first year to simply let him get acclimated. Yes, football is football, but what works schematically when the averages WR runs a 4.8-40 simply won’t work when you’re now going against a 6’3 guy who runs a 4.4.

I don’t know… Mike acts a lot like my 3 year old. The more heat you apply the less likely he is to do what I want him to do :joy:

Mike has basically infinite job security. We can’t afford to pay his buyout and it goes up every year that the contract rolls over.

I don’t know if the heat matters. He’s got the coaching equivalent of tenure lol

is Glenn Spencer the last time he fired a coordinator?

I think he fired Sean Gleason after one season because he didn’t fit our culture or something.
