It’s obvious Gundy is lying. We know how much Gundy loves seniority, and there’s about an 85-90 percent chance it’s Bowman.
Bowman probably should be the guy. Then again, I don’t like watching a collapsing pocket with a QB that doesn’t possess the consistent ability to escape it. A lot of this is dependent on the OL.
If it’s anything like it’s been the last few years. I’d rather start a QB that is consistent in getting the ball where it needs to go, and can make something happen with his legs. That being Rangel or Gundy doesn’t really matter to me.
If the line holds steady- Start Bowman
If the line sucks- Don’t start Bowman
The least we can do for Bowman is make sure he doesn’t suffer another collapsed lung again. Hopefully Charlie Dickey and Kasey Dunn are reading this.

If they are this close, then start Rangel. We need 4* recruits to know they have a chance here. Also, it would be nice (if he lives up to his rating) to know we have 4 years with him.

No, you don’t deserve starts just because you have one more star than another guy. How has that worked out for Uni of discoTEX which has recruiting classes that makes ours look like K-State’s? Lost 7 of last 11 games vs Ok State. LOL, start cause you’re a 4-star. 
Unless he becomes an NFL product and transfers to LSU, Ohio State, or Alabama.
Where in the world did I say start him because he has more stars? I said if you want 4* athletes coming here (and all things being equal), then give them the shot.
How the hell do you expect us to go after top athletes if they transfer (in this new transfer portal era) before getting a shot? Don’t go complaint about recruiting if our top recruits are going to ride the bench.
Again, I’m all for playing the person that has earned it, but this article was about them all being equal right now. So what time-breaker would you use?

I guess you think Herschel Sims should’ve started simply because he was a very overrated 5-star. Great way of thinking. You’d didn’t say they are equal you said if they are THIS CLOSE, which implies Rangel should start simply because he was a 4-star recruit. If anything should’ve shown you since Gumby has been coach, oSu has been beating a lot of teams with much better recruiting classes, e.g. discoTEX yeet losing on the regular to a team that’s much lower, i.e. Kansas State. How do you explain that?
By saying “this close” because Gundy said they were. Can you remember who started Sims freshman year? Also, can you remember if Gundy said they were this close he couldn’t choose?

Very low football IQ going on here.
IF you bothered to watch the game tape to diagnose Rangel’s play, you would see very few unforced errors, several lame duck throws from a full run, a few forced errors, very high mobility and good/not great accuracy.
We also saw a C3 make a few bad snaps, many dropped WR passes (WVU particularly), and of course jail break blitzes unblocked through the OLine forcing fast throws into 7-8 man coverage.
We also saw Rangel slide-like-a-poosay - very bad look, bad perception, what a poosay right? Never mind that he was our ONLY available QB (both Gunnar and Spencer were injured) and was a true Freshman.
The only reason to bring up Rangel’s HS career and recruiting rating is that he was REALLY F’ING GOOD in HS. In 3 years of play he racked up +9300 yards passing, +101 TD’s to 18 Ints and 69% completions in big time Dallas football. Rangel is an extremely high performing player that earned every bit of his 4* ranking.
We’re in awesome shape at the QB position.
