Sunday was chaotic, but not in Stillwater.
I’m very happy we got Morris, couldn’t get a better HC amongst those who were available IMO. Really surprised UF didn’t go for Golesh. Sumrall’s a good coach though, but if I’m a UF fan/alum I’d rather have the Russian.
“Sunday was a perfect example of how smooth OSU’s process was.
For starters, Chad Weiberg got things done early. OSU didn’t have to wait out the Kiffin drama. It didn’t have to jockey for a spot in the Sunday domino tumble. The Cowboys had their guy and the fanbase was almost universally happy about it — what a W.”
Try convincing the ones who said canning Gundy early wouldn’t matter during the hiring process for the next HC
.
I dont know how good I feel about being on the same side of an argument as you…but here we are. It could not have gone any smoother. Kudos to the people in charge for navigating these waters. @heychamp has kinda gone silent after screaming it was illegal.
Impossible feat.
Look at the dud Michigan State hired. I think Kentucky got very lucky they were able to get Stein after waiting to fire Stoops. Canning Mike early on is one of the best things Chad has done. I think Ole Miss flopped too with their internal promotion hire. They should’ve known Lane was gone and acted accordingly.
Ole Miss was in an absolute toughest of spots. Due to the fact that your season is still going and are in the Playoff, you need as much continuity as possible. You want to keep things as normal, business as usual as you can. I think they handled this is well as they could have, under the circumstances. You want to keep the guy. You cant force him out. Youre really kind of held hostage to an extent.
Pete Golding is a very highly coveted Asst. He comes from the Saban, Smart, Dan Lanning mold of guys. Will he be that good? Obviously time will tell. But having him as your best internal option is not a bad spot to be in.
When you’re consistently wrong that tends to happen.
