Chuba vs Jonathan Taylor

@kyleporterCBS @CarsonCunningham

I listened to Tuesday’s pod today and I had another thought to the Chuba vs Taylor debate.

Taylor’s OL was considerably better than ours. In my opinion being a Wisconsin RB is a lot like being a Mike Leach system QB. Of course your stats will be great when you’re running behind almost all NFL lineman. Chuba May have 2400 yards with the holes those guys produce. Good for thought when comparing

I agree with you. However, many people nationally would counter this by saying that despite his offensive line being better, he was facing tougher run defenses than Chuba was in the Big XII. It’s a chicken/egg situation. Are the defenses ranked higher because the offenses are bad, or are the defenses legitimately better? Chuba did some damage to the KSU and TCU run defense statistics when he blew them up, so on paper they look worse than BIG 10 schools.

I don’t know what it’s going to take to flip the national narrative, but people need to stop associating the Big XII with terrible defenses if players outside of Norman are going to start taking home hardware.

The irony is the game that may have cost Chuba the Doak Walker was McNeese. He barely played and likely would’ve rattled off 150+ which would’ve gotten him over 2k. I think hitting the 2k mark May have given him the edge to take home the a Doak Walker
