Fire Mike Gundy

Thanks for catching that. I must have been thinking 9 million and then changed the wording.

Yes, sir.

This is a good and confounding point.

Just gonna throw this out there for those that say Gundy is complacent and just collecting a paycheck. He shredded the defense in film study and basically took over the defensive practices this week. During the film session he apparently called out each player when they weren’t playing hard enough and during practice the whole defense got punished if he thought anyone was continuing that in practice.

So he’s now taking over what Nardo and the other defense coaches should have already been doing?

Yep, clear sign that Nardo’s days MAY be numbered.

Or gone.

He’s had to involve himself in offensive scheme changes mid season 4 straight years now and Dunn is still around.

Which is so bizarre.

That’s like a sh*tty boss I used to work for who set expectations then when everyone fulfilled those expectations they started yelling

True. But the difference with Nardo is that Gundy probably is not as close to him/his family given he hasn’t worked with Nardo as long (1.5 years versus 10+ years with Dunn). Still not a good excuse but it might be the reason.

What I really don’t understand is why Gundy brought Nardo in if Gundy was never going to allow Nardo to install his 3-3-5 defense in full for an entire season? Not to make excuses for Nardo as I don’t think he is D1 ready, but it seems odd Gundy never gave him a meaningful chance to fully install the defense. This year we went right back to the old 4-DL system and it is even WORSE than when they half-way installed 3-3-5 last year with Nardo.

Must have been because we just didn’t have the right personnel for the 3-3-5 so Gundy backtracked. That’s the only argument I can see that would justify giving Nardo another year. Let him get his own guys in. We are so bad this year I just can’t give him a pass though. We need a proven P5 coordinator to get this mess cleaned up and turned around next season. The experiment didn’t work.

I agree. Nardo should go no matter what as D1 coach should be better than this no matter what base defense they run. But if Nardo’s going anyway, Gundy should just let him run the 3-3-5 these last few games. If the defense continues to suck big, it seals the decision in a semi-fair way.

Dunn is his best friend and assistant HC. Nardo is some dude he pulled outta D2.

Not all families are created equal

Lol we said the same thing.

Terrible excuse but I think it’s what’s up

Injured Oliver is why. Supposedly. They weren’t ready for it last year, and then didn’t have the personnel this year.

Good point. But also, Gundy never fires anyone ever. Who is the last coach he’s fired?

Gleeson
Richmond

I don’t think we fired Gleeson, did we? He just took the Princeton job from what I remember.

PFB article said “Gleeson has informed Oklahoma state that he is taking the Princeton job in the same capacity.”

2 coaches out of, what, 50 he’s had?
