Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State's First Day at the NCAA Championships

OSU puts six in the quarterfinals.

Fish’s match was the best of the day !! They went after it !!

Yea that take down at the end was awesome. Also the whole debacle with the Ohio State coach throwing the brick protesting for more near fall points only to have the initial 2 that were given taken away by the reviewing officials. Talk about grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory LOL. The coach was livid to say the least and kept demanding to know the names of the reviewing officials. Not sure what he was going to do with that info but LOL on how the whole situation played out.

I really want Hendrickson to get that natty. I don’t want there to be a debate on the best one season Cowboy in history. The man has been the perfect Cowboy (and it only makes him more of a Cowboy by being loyal to the Air Force Academy)

Has to go through an Olympic gold medalist to get there unfortunately

Was a good first day! This is still a bridge year and I think Year 2 & 3 of the David Taylor regime are going to be awesome.

My only real hopes:

  • Would love to see Hendrickson in the title match. He deserves it.
  • Just want to finish ahead of Iowa in the team standings. Still frustrated by that dual loss.
  • Not OSU, but Big XII and anti-PSU… I REALLY want Keckeisen to beat Starocci

All right, I don’t know wrestling at all. Do we still have a chance for a team title or are we too far behind Penn State to reasonably catch them?

Steveson is the Michael Jordan of college wrestling. At a level that no one else can reach. I think we’ll see something really good in year 3 of DT era. We will leapfrog over Iowa for 2nd. But no one will ever top PSU as long as Cael is there. My hope is that DT will try to mine for gold in the state of PA. The offense on this years team is so much higher than Cowboy teams of late. Top talent comes on board in the next 2 years. I still think we have something special in Cael Hughes when he is healthy. So a lot to look forward to. Gratitude to Mr. Paycom for making this happen and for Chad having an open mind about what it takes to restore the program to prominance.

That’s what I said when they reversed it , the Ohio St coach screwed his self throwing the brick Then wanted to get mad at everyone but himself… lol. Even the tv commentators were saying it wasn’t there, although they rarely reverse a call like that

It’s still in reach , especially with Spratley making the semis this morning with one helluva match. Penn St is just too strong though I think.
