Former Oklahoma State Quarterback Gunnar Gundy Re-enters Transfer Portal

If you liked Gunnars deep ball out the 3 QBs then we don’t need to throw the ball deep at all. It hangs high and short. His longest pass he had give it all he had for 30yards in the air. Will agree Bowman is not the answer either. He throws like a lefty too even though he’s right handed. If he’d throw off the correct foot and off the front foot. When I spoke with Pat Jones he said Rangel is light years ahead. I think Bowman got the nod because of his years of experience and seniority. I would had personally given Rangel the start and grow especially if Ollie was going to be who he was.

I been saying that all season. Not positive but was a thought I had in the back of my mind. I think stastically he was leading out of the 3 through 3 games before we settled on Bowman. He had gotten better and more mobile.

Rangel is going to have to show he is better than Bowman during practice. Same holds true for Flores. I think one of those 2 will be in the next portal.

I can respect your take, but I felt like Gunnar had a touch, ala Rudolph, admittedly high, but could drop a pass ‘in the bucket’ and I feel like ‘30 yards in the air’ is a bit hyperbolic. lol I tend to exaggerate to make my points too, so no harm done. lol

Suffice it to say that none of the three is CFP material. Rangel reminds me quite a lot of Dax Garman. I supported Dax because of his strong arm at the time. Only to find that his strong arm lacked sufficient accuracy and his decision making was very suspect. Rangel had made a lot of similar off ‘line’ throws past 40 yards, missing the line by 4 or 5 yards to the right or left. (In fact, most seemed to be to the inside of the field. Giving his receiver and any safety a chance to adjust, I suppose. lol)

The FSU Seminoles have just demonstrated to the college football world that even the best of teams cannot compete on the highest level without high level quarterback play. At the moment, that is lacking in Stillwater. jmho…

If one leaves it won’t be Flores , he’s a RS freshman now and hasn’t had a chance. I’ll agree on one thing, we need to have a younger qb step up.
I actually liked Gunner but he was never going to get a chance being he’s Gundys son
The one coming in I think this semester is supposed to have a lot of talent

I dont think any of the 3 are significant improvements over the other. None are future NFLers, but all 3 are passable D1 QBs. I still believe that the issue is that we lack an OC who will call an offense that maximizes their talent. Outside of the OU game, which feels like an aberration, there was a significant lack of creativity from Dunn.

Did you miss WV , KSt , Kansas ? 30 something points should win most games. You think the incoming freshman qb is a dud too ? Had a lot of good offers I’m just trying to see where you are getting what you say ?

Those 3 wins had more to do with Ollie going crazy than Dunn’s playcalling. OG2 went for 282 and 271 in back to back weeks.

So tell us Travis did Bowman call the plays or Dunn ? Did he see some blocking that was working. Ollie can’t do it by his self. Even the GOAT couldn’t do that
I know Ollie led the nation in YAC but I seem to remember a couple or three clean holes he had

Kstate - 3 ints, 5 fgs
Ku - held the oruhing steam to 98 yards
WVU- ■■■■ that 4th q was beautiful

Qb play wasn’t the deciding factor in any of those wins, nor Bedlam.

Offensive coaches wanted Rangel to start. Gundy pulled rank deferring to experience.
We’ve never seen a QB get away was such bad perf at times and not get benched.

I guess you missed all those stinkers Sanders had while here. He had 3 and 4 INT games and didn’t get benched. :man_shrugging:

The story I heard is they wanted Bowman and Gundy wanted all 3 to play.

Changing up the blocking schemes and simplifying them was a big time move. I’ll agree with that helping a ton. I’m not sure if that was Dunn, Gundy, or Dickey who figured that out.

Attending practices I firmly believe Flores is the future. When Gundy entered the transfer portal I was elated. I thought this move would help Flores advance through the pecking order and more importantly keep him in Stillwater. He is a gifted athlete but we haven’t seen him on the big stage which is a whole different mind set in performance. With Bowman coming back he will be our preemptive starter and he has done pretty well overall - not great by any means but manages The game well with his experience. We do need a QB who can move a little better in and out of the pocket and look for people down field instead of, most of the time, throwing it away. A QB who can run can sure help move the chains and keeping our Offense the field. Anyway, I believe is our guy! But when will Gundy unleash the reins? One more thing - Start strategicly using the TE in our offense!!!

Pssshh winters in Oklahoma can be downright brutal . My wife’s family is
From cincinatti, winter ain’t that bad .

After USA game Gundy told them to get their asz in the room and figure it out. Don’t come out until you have it down. From then on it worked as well as it could. That was the next game with KSt, everyone said K St had a bad game. Maybe we had something to do with that The UCF game was bad, bad conditions. We an aren’t blessed with talent. Sure we have decent players but we need two deep on the OL at least Hopefully Flores or the incoming freshman are the deal. A really good qb makes all the difference. Maybe that’s why Boman played, experience :man_shrugging: He certainly isn’t mobile enough for running him

So what you’re saying is the backup at Ohio is better? Got it!!!

I can promise you it wasn’t Dunn. It takes him half the season to figure out anything.
