- Overall recruiting (starting with compensation/personnel/process)
- Design/implement an OU game plan consisting of 50% (play counts) creative plays/alignments never before seen
- Scour the world for FG Kicker who routinely makes 9/10 …60 yard FG’s blindfolded
- Offer to shave head to first 10 four star recruits in same recruiting class
- Donate $1M of my salary to Athletic Dept dedicated to FB recruiting budget IF boosters match it for next 5 yrs
- Donate another $1M of my salary for a ‘world-class’ dedicated FB academic center IF boosters match it for next 5 years (parents would love it and be ‘one-of-kind’ recruiting asset)
- Donate another $1M of my salary for enhancing FB Sport Performance/Strength & Conditioning for Rob Glass
- Invite/Host/Walk-ins Parent’s starting with (Sophmore athletes) to ‘tour’ OSU ‘world-class’ FB academic center (anytime/anyday/full accessibility) so it is not NCAA violation
- Worth pursuing.
2-7. You really don’t get it. - We do this now.
I’d expand my ranch and retire. I’d get season tickets to every sport to pop in every now and then.
We have one of the best kickers in the nation right now too
I thought this was a full sarcasm post…but now I’m not so sure.
I like this post.
I like Ammendola but dont think he can 9/10 60yrd(ers) blindfolded
If Gundy is already doing #2 …then he is the GOAT at disguise… explain how #2-7 translates to ‘you just dont get it’ …?
You want a COLLEGE kicker to hit blindfolded 60 Yarders? Ok pal
I mean, out of the whole post, by far the most ridiculous things is the kicker who can hit 60 yarders blindfolded. If you can find a college kicker who can consistently hit 40 yarders you’re already in a pretty great spot. I think you’re vastly underestimating how hard it is to find great kickers. Even most of the NFL has trouble finding reliable kickers. If it were really as easy as you say it is, I don’t think Nick Saban, famously the most detail-oriented college coach of all time, would have as many problems as he’s had over the years kicking FGs.
friends … the post was 50% in jest …come on…of course its hard to find ‘any really talented people in any chosen field’ …the real point is, i would invest time/$'s/energy to hold tryouts ‘around the world’ to ‘at least attempt’ to try and find a kicker who is truly a ‘game changer’ for FG kickers …to me, it would be that important to TRY and answer that question … that is all I’m saying …
I guess my thing is just like… we’ve had a lot of really good kickers through the recent years. Seems like something odd to point out you want better.
And I think the whole myth that Gundy isn’t spending his time and effort on this is so weird too. We don’t see him on socials ever that’s true, and that’s the only way we know coaches are anywhere. He’s out there and he’s working. And I think it’s a bunch easier to give away someone else’s couple million than your own.
Indeed we have had good/great FG kickers …my point is …the ability that a FG kicker has to ‘completely’ change the dynamics of any game is huge …anytime you cross the 50 you are a genuine/automatic threat to score 3 ? It’s worth alot of $'s & W’s to find that individual …you think ? That’s all I’m trying to say … and I would spend the $'s to answer the question …and btw…would donate the $'s also if I genuinely found donors to 3-5x match
But again, this is a college kicker… kicking isn’t as easy as you think. Look at the nfl, those are the best of the best and there are teams struggling with the kicking game. And I’ve never heard of a game changing kicker. Especially in college.
Easier said than done on the money. I would love to say if I had millions I’d give it away willy nilly, but I have never had millions and I don’t know what I would do.
The entire sport has started getting punters from Australia in the last decade or so and there’s started to be an increase in players from countries like Canada and Mexico, as well as much of Europe. Clearly the motivation is there to find talent all around the globe, so if it was as easy as you say to find a game changing kicker, someone would’ve done it by now.
I’ve never heard of a ‘game changer’ FG Kicker …either …but I do wonder if the method(s) being used to ‘find’ kickers has really changed over time …? As silly as this may sound, I’ve never read/heard if it’s done…go to Mexico-South & Central America or Africa and hold try-outs? The Australian FB route was very inventive/different way to find undiscovered talent…what’s to say that approach could not be expanded upon?
