Not sure if I can trust my memory on this but I think Smith was having a really solid career at OSU but then got injured. Either way, he was really good for OSU, not one of the great Cowboys but performed well.
I thought he got 2 all american years. He came from neo where he won natty’s

I researched his bio after I made the post. I think his senior year at some point he was wrestling with a leg or knee brace and that is why he did not place higher at the NCAA that season. Had great potential but another victim of what could have been had not for serious injury.
