If the SEC comes calling you can bet OSU leadership will be all in. It only makes sense. That said, I’m happy with the new-look Big 12 and can’t wait to get the new teams in and Texas out. I am bummed that there will be no more Bedlam.

If that were to happen, OSU would jump on that in a half a minute.
I’m looking forward to the Big XII 2.0 because they’re going to be a lot parity in the conference which means a lot of exciting games.
As for Bedlam, I’m glad it’s gone for the foreseeable future. OSU needs to get out of the OU shadow and forge their own identity.

I only wish we had the whole (asholes included) conference playing together for more than the year or two we’ve got . I bet these new members are itching to get matched against Texas .

Let’s do divisions with all the new guys and Texas ou in one division and the rest in the other .

From a friend, thought I’d drop this in here. There is a Black Swan or two coming:

"Realignment? Who knows? I called and talked to xxxxxxxxx. He’s my xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and started the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx at University of xxxxxxxxxxx. He’s pretty well connected with people who know what’s going on. He has been saying that when the grant of rights deals (TV) expire in 2023 for the Big 10, 2024 for the Pac-12 and 2025 for the Big 12, that there will not be any new long-term deals unless there are generous exit clauses for ESPN. The SEC deal with ESPN is complicated but ESPN controls it and is open to redoing the deal with expansion. That deal expires in 2024 except for the SEC Network programming. The ACC deal runs through 2036. Notre Dame’s deal ends in 2025. So, with the exception of the ACC, all of the other Power 5 deals expire in the next three years.

Xxxxx’s belief is that ESPN wants a super conference of somewhere around 32 teams, possibly up to 40, perhaps as low as 24, but he thinks 32 is the number they want. As part of that, they will pay billions to this new super conference but it means destroying all of the alignments we’ve known. He even said that he thinks it’s quite possible that Texas and OU will never play a game in the SEC because of the creation of a new super conference before they ever get to play, and the SEC as we know it will cease to exist, as will the Big 12 and all the other conferences. Remember, this is just his opinion, but he said these things are being discussed by the elite programs and ESPN.

xxxxx believes that ESPN wants an NFL type arrangement of 32 teams and they will only play each other. No more Citadel at Alabama or Tennessee-Chattanooga at OU. He believes that the remnants of the existing conferences that don’t make the Top 32 will be realigned geographically to reduce the cost of travel for the non-revenue sports. For example, TTU might be on the bubble to be part of the 32 (Remember, this is being done by ESPN so it’s all about viewership). But, let’s say they don’t make it. A new Big 12 might look like Iowa State, KU, KSU, OSU, Texas Tech, TCU, SMU, and Baylor. Or maybe the Texas schools stay together and the Big 12 becomes Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Memphis, Kansas, K-State, Arkansas, Oklahoma State. The NCAA would no longer govern football as it would be its own thing and the Top 32 would govern themselves. It’s possible that the Big 10 and SEC realign and make two 20-school conferences, but not the same teams they now have. The SEC might say by to Vanderbilt—baseball doesn’t bring eyeballs. They might also say goodbye to Kentucky, Missouri, or Mississippi State, but add Florida State and Clemson, or even Oklahoma State. The Big 10 would drop Rutgers, Northwestern, and maybe Maryland, but add some others such as Washington, Oregon, or Cincinnati.

I just expect everything to be very different in the next few years. And don’t even get me started on the Wild West know as NIL."

I don’t want us going to the SEC. I’ve had enough excitement with 8 wins seasons already. I’m ready to start winning conference titles and challenging the for CFP.

Boy this was a swing and a miss.

So far, sure. Wouldn’t surprise if we saw it rear it’s head again in the next 5 yrs or so, esp with how NIL has changed things since this in 2022. Another question…what has you browsing topics from 3.5 years ago?

One big super conference … I’m not saying that’s totally wrong that is what they want. Don’t like any part of that chit Football people love great football but I’m following mine in it or not Too much greed. They have already taken the rivalry out of many., just don’t like it

“So far…” Dude you said it would happen in 2025. Thats this year. Not a single thing you said in there came to fruition.

I always have time to kill, so occassionally ill dip into these old forums. Its a fun to look back and see who got some right…and who didnt
