I’m not sure if it’s just an East coast thing or what because I’ve never been to a different NHL game, but something I thought was interesting is that every Bruins game I’ve been to I’d bet more than 80% of the fans there wear hockey jerseys. Around here for football or baseball, the number of jerseys worn by fans seems pretty minimal. Just t-shirts and sport shirts, etc.
Not sure when you would go to games but the 2000s was peak jersey era. GIA had tons of jerseys all over the arena back then. Probably a fad from the early 2000s artists wearing jerseys all of the time.
OT Playoff NHL is the best. I remember we were at a Stars-Sharks game that went to 4 OTs - didn’t get home until about 3am.
Late 90’s - early 00’s, but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen 80%+ of the fans in GIA wearing actual game style basketball jerseys. Oh they’re definitely around, just not to the extent I saw at the NHL games.
Do any of you use a home wifi mesh system? If yes, any product recommendations?
I use TP-Link XE75 3 node system - is Wifi6E, which adds the 6ghz band, which I like because it uses that band as a dedicated wireless backhaul to connect the nodes so I don’t consume available bandwidth on 2.4 and 5ghz to connect the mesh
I feel the need for a cigarette after that description
The only negative about NHL is the season lasts for-ev-er. By the time playoffs roll around I’m beyond done with it. My hubs is from Pittsburgh so we watch the Penguins. For about a third of the season it’s fun and then it keeps going and going until mid June.
Hockey jerseys are just fun. Hub has one from HS that our kids wear oversized & a current one. He still wears them regularly. He doesn’t have a Steelers jersey. T-shirts, but no jersey.
I had a TP-Link until I got fiber. I upgraded to a Deco XE75 Pro, with 4 other nodes. We have a relatively small house, about 2200 sq ft, single story. No dead spots, including the back yard.
Deco is TP-Link
Ha, I work in tech - sometimes I let it slip into my descriptions hahaha
Duh, you are right - the one replaced was an Orbi!
So, here is a little (ancient) history from yours truly. We bought this house in 1988 and had dialup for about 11 or 12 years. The dream was to get a DSL line, which I started hearing about at work (yes, I was in computer hardware sales support). The key was we were at the very end of the distance allowed for DSL to work. Finally, in about 2000, it was strong enough to get to our house, and we got an Earthlink DSL installed. We were the first in our neighborhood (in Far North Dallas). Such lightening speed!
But, wifi was still a dream, and we could either string cables along the floor, or figure something else out. Wife made the decision easy - no wires loose around the house! So, I strung Cat5 cable through the attic to all rooms, dropping them through the wall to outlets. I still have a router running in the attic.
My kids (currently 41 and 36) were the first to have computers in their rooms. And, if we needed to cut them off for awhile, I just went into the router and disabled their IP addresses. Pissed them off.
Transition through cable, U-Verse, and DirecTV, AT&T finally got fiber to our neighborhood.
Thngs have changed in the last 25 years.
Ha I was the first to have a tower in my room, still remember when we got that second phone line and got 56K and it changed everything! haha… oh the days when 56K was blazing fast
I sell high end networking to Fortune 100, it’s fascinating what’s possible these days.
We went all streaming a few years ago, funny how everything evolves
I remember coming home one day, stating - Honey, this is the last computer we ever need to buy! It’s a Compaq Portable II, and I can put it under the seat on the plane!
She went to her grave never letting me forget that!
Is it any longer than the NBA or MLB?
Apparently Fat Bear Week at Katmai National Park has been delayed. Two of the bears got into a fight, and one of them was permanently eliminated.
We jokingly sent a message to the office ladies after noticing a subtitle gaffe in one of the episodes and ended up spending the evening DMing with Jenna Fischer. We’re practically best friends now.
Yes actually! So MLB is 6 months, maybe 7 with playoffs. April to October plus playoffs. NBA is October through June 5 finals week. (Which is way long.) Hockey also runs October through finals series starting June 24. It’s legit 9 months of the year. And every year I think “we’ve been swimming regularly for 6 weeks now. When does the ice melt?”
I love college length schedules and then I can focus on summer things in summer!
Another good example of why I still believe NHL hockey players are the best athletes.
