It’s insane that police can just say “that’s not a law but we didn’t think it was appropriate. Off to jail.” For something millions of children do every single school day.
How old was the child? I can see a cop asking questions if the child is 4 or 5. Kam is 14, took my debit card, brought my card and his slushee back home with no issues. But if it’s a very young child walking…say a mild plus…then I can see an issue. But to arrest her?! For what? Child endangerment or abandonment?
The story I saw said the child was 10 years old and walked a mile from their house to the store. The cops called the Mom to notify her and took him home before showing up at her house several hours later to arrest her. Obviously, I don’t know all the details but, on it face, that seems like way over the top when there are lots of “real” crimes out there that go unpunished.
He was 10. We used to walk the old rail line out by my grandmas for like 3-4 miles into town when I was way younger than 10. Lol
I think it was negligence or something like that? They made up a reason. She said “did I do anything illegal? My kid went to the store. I didn’t know you could arrest me because my kid went to the store.” And the cop said “I don’t have to tell you anything.”
“I don’t have to tell you anything.” is the type of attitude that is giving law enforcement such backlash with situations like this.
The two cops were treating her like she had the kid chained down in her basement for a decade or something.
What a day. Save us from ourselves aliens.
Agreed. Now I’m going to play devil’s advocate. Would we have the same reaction if the boy was abducted and harmed?
This is just me, but I personally think I’d be mad at the person that abducted him.
Well, yea, kind of needless to say. But we’re still all human and for me, in today’s environment, I’d probably still wonder to myself (even if just a tiny bit) why she let him wander alone that far from home (I believe some of it was rural?). Again, just trying to play devil’s advocate for discussion.
I get what you’re saying, my wife and I had that exact convo and you’re right. Just sucks that we have to handcuff our children’s experiences because of demonic behavior all over the place. And then go as far as imprisoning parents for trying to let their kids have those experiences instead of working to remove the threat.
This is kinda terrifying.
Has anyone bought off of Temu?
Nope. And I will not.
My wife buys a bunch of paint by numbers on there for like $2 each when she wants something to kill time haha
Anyone have a recommendation for a home air purifier? Maybe for 1,500 SF that is also effective for pet dander?
Yeah, its just the new version of wish and pretty similar to a lot of TikTok shops out there. If you’re looking for quality, it’s not the move. If you’re looking for cheap and 70% sure it works, its an option.
