Oklahoma State Not Bothered by Early Bye, Cowboys Attempt Turn Around After Oregon

A look at how the Cowboys usually perform after byes.

We need a change of direction and pretty quick before we end up declining even further and end up missing the super league when it happens. A new era of college football requires change and getting people that have experience with this new era, we can still keep some cowboy culture in the process. I would really like to bring in Todd Monken. SEC experience, you know this guy has connections and knows what it takes for a program with his time under Georgia and with this new era of college football is going to take. He has NFL experience on top of that now and 2 champions too. Yes he’s older too but he could get us on the right track and bring experience from a program like Georgia show us what we need to do. We could offer more than the Ravens and probably incentivize him. Zac Robinson is okay but for the pre nil era, i don’t think he’d have a clue with the new college era. Oklahoma state is no dead-end type of college football job like people use to make it out to be. This program has money and was supposed to have had 22 million put into nil for this coming season instead we got a 7 million roster according to sources, something is really off and wrong if you look at USF a school with less money beat Florida that has a lot of money. Oklahoma State football generated 130+ million dollars and football budget 30 million dollars from some sources. 325 million in private donations and a lot of money dumped into future athletic facilities such as the baseball stadium and soon softball stadium. I’m there sure there’s things I don’t know with the money and where it needs to go, but there’s donors too if they can get something shown to them to spend that money. Gundy deserves a statue built and did great for the program, some type of change is needed quick because these next few years depends on it.

This team isn’t good enough to roll off five consecutive wins like in 2023. We’re not making a bowl game this year. Oregon is good, but we look like the Kansas of old.

Is there a bowl for losing teams that beat the spread?

Is gundy still the coach today?

Hey champ,

You’re still seething in your safe space with your adult coloring book aren’t you? You’ll know he’s gone when you and your therapist start your healing sessions.

Hey champ,

Yeah, I’m thinking we should bring in Kirby Smart. He’s won multiple national championships, so we know he can do it. If we can’t get him, I’m thinking we get Nick Saban out of retirement or maybe Bear Bryant. They’re a bit older and one is dead, so not ideal, but I think they could work.

Y’all need to give up on Zac Robinson. It’s never going to happen.

He maybe set in the NFL, but sometimes your main objetive is not the O specialist of an NFL team.

Old interviews and commentary from Robinson leads many of us to believe he would take the reigns if offered. for the right price.

I personally want J.W. Walsh to try. He’s got enough coaching exp across the board to do well here.

A hint of sarcasm i sense, getting Monken is realistic. Allegedly Zac Robinson declined.

I think Zac has a legitimate shot at getting a HC job in the NFL. He’s talked about at least. I don’t think anyone is taking a college head coaching job over an NFL one. You really don’t even see a lot of NFL coordinators defect to college jobs unless they’re kind of failing out of the NFL like Belicheck or Matt Patricia. However, with his connection, I’ve heard he’s at least interested. He might come if his NFL coaching prospects dry up or don’t materialize fast enough. 25% chance, not impossible.

Monken is no chance in Hell of coming here unless he falls out of favor in the future and he’s trying to bounce back (which is not going to happen). He is the highest paid coordinator in the NFL running one of the best offenses in the NFL. He probably could get a HC job if he wants one. He is not coming here–or to any college–to start kissing the butts of 17 year olds making the kind of money they shouldn’t be making in a year long recruiting cycle. Not going to happen. Period. Less than 1% chance.

Dude what do you have against dead coaches? LOL

I have one better Jimbo Fisher. Natty winning head coach. He didn’t get a fair shake at completely fleecing TAMU so I’ll bet he’d be willing to come to OSU and give it another shot.

This new era of college ball is more and more similar to the NFL, so I would think it would be easier for coaches to make the jump from one to another, not harder.
Of course, I watched college football precisely for the reason that it wasn’t the NFL. I’m getting less and less interested by the year.

The only similarity is that both pay their players, otherwise college football is a total cluster F when compared to the NFL. College football is medieval feudalism and the NFL is 21st century civilization.

Year long recruiting is much different than the NFL. In the NFL, you draft, sign free agents, make most trades, restructure deals in the offseason almost exclusively and you’re done and get to focus on football. In college, you already had more or less year long recruiting and now with the portal, it’s about doubled to where you’re recruiting your own squad all year. Everyone’s also working with the same cap in the NFL. In college, you’re expected to get out in the community and fundraise and unless you belong to one of six to ten schools, you’re still at a disadvantage. Totally different.

Kind of what the OSU defense looked like this past weekend :+1:.

Hey champ,

Nice dunk on your own team. Just kidding, we know you aren’t really a fan.

You see it as a dunk, and I see it as a massive problem that needs to be addressed. Of course, you live in a Gundy universe. So, that line of thinking has probably never crossed your mind :man_shrugging:.
