I think the minds are already made up on Gundy. People that are the blind loyalists wont be effected by a bad year. On the flip side, the people that think he sucks wont change their minds if he does anything less than get to the playoff. I think peoples opinions about Mike Gundy were formed with how he handles a myriad of things off the football field.

For me my expectations aren’t regulated by some prediction on how the team will do. Again for me HCMG gets one down year and he clearly used it last year. Going forward for the next 3 years his teams need to be in clear contention for a CC and win at least one. This means the win total needs to be pretty high including this coming season or he is out in my book. As for the Gundy haters losing their minds well at least in this forum it will be more like radio silent. They completely disappear when things are booming.
What exactly are the expectations? Is it six wins? They seem to change all the time with our fans. Some of us have been fairly consistent.
Then you better get in line to start deciding real soon who Gundy’s replacement will be. Because if he hasn’t won the conference in 14 years. I have very high doubts he’ll do it in the next 3. I really wish he would prove me wrong though

At this point, anything short of a Natty…I want him gone. For me, it’s not even about his lack of conference titles or the Bedlam record (which holds less importance with each passing year of not playing Bedlam, hopefully.)
It’s about his total disregard for season-ticket holders and the fanbase. It’s the Chuba incident. It’s the way he answered for Ollie’s DUI. It’s the dumb 
he says in press conferences. It’s the fact that he thinks he’s smarter than he truly is. It’s his “I thought it would just go away” attitude with NIL At every turn, he just can’t get out of his own way.
I just want new blood. He’s been here for 21 seasons as head coach, plus his time as OC, plus his time as a player. It totals 40 years in college football. He’s done enough. His legacy is what it is. There’s no making it better or worse at this point. I just want him gone. And I want him to go away quietly the way John Smith did. I have a feeling that he won’t though.

It should be though. That should be one of the things in your criteria imo. The fact that new coaches can come in and win the conference within 3 years. While he’s proven 14 seasons in a row he can’t. That should be a major concern. Next time he decides to go after the fanbase. Someone should ask him which coach he thinks will win the conference. Because he sure as hell isn’t doing it.

Here’s the thing: Conference titles was part of my criteria, until I realized that Gundy will never win another one. Won’t matter if he coaches here for 10 more years. He’s not getting another one. How many other coaches could keep their job at the same place for 21 years with only one conference title to show for it? None. No other school would put up with Gundy’s antics for that little addition to the trophy case.

He has so many people convinced that if he leaves that the program will just fall apart. I don’t see how that can be the case. Les Miles came in and gave us winning seasons three of his four seasons here. Before any of the upgrades to the facilities.
If the criteria is just to make a bowl game. You don’t need a Mike Gundy to do that. He proved last season that we may NOT make a bowl game even with him being the head coach. If you get a competent young coach in that’s willing to not be complacent he’ll give the fanbase the mediocrity they desire

Sorry if you’re holding up Les Miles who brought in a bunch of thugs to win as an example I’ll pass on anything even close to him. I like being proud of my alma mater.
That’s pretty flawed reasoning IMO. Given the state of college football our chances of winning a natty are infinitesimal regardless of who we have as a head coach. Add to that using woke arguments doesn’t help either IMO. You are entitled to your opinion though, not trying to dissuade that. Cheers.

Honestly, knowing that what you said is true which is that our chances of a Natty are microscopic at best, I want him gone no matter what his W-L record is. The program needs a massive upgrade. Not in terms of facilities, but in terms of direction, vision, voice and expectation. How much longer, in your opinion, would Gundy need to coach, before you feel the majority of the fanbase is ready for a change at the top? I don’t expect a Natty. I do expect a coach making 6 or 7 mil per year to not make an ass of himself occasionally. I do expect him to hire coaches that want to win conference titles and secure CFP spots to at least have a shot. With no bluebloods as roadblocks in conference, there are no excuses.

No, he got all up in arms because the man wore a t-shirt he didn’t like of a news organization he didn’t agree with. Bringing that gross 2020 cancel culture to the school and the team is awful.
I don’t know about anyone else but for me we need to get back to competing for CC’s and actually winning one in the next three years. Starting this season we need to have a record that either gets us to the CC game or puts us just behind the two who actually qualify. So for example if we only win 5 games this season and that means we aren’t even close to making the CC game, which I would think would be the case, then for me it’s time to start searching for a new HC. We don’t have time to muck around given the current state and direction of college football. We either start rising to the top now or otherwise we will become irrelevant so fast it’ll make your head spin. Just IMO.

Being proud of a coach (OSU graduate) that talks down to his fanbase on national television (which Les never did and Gundy has done twice I might add) and just went 0-9 while doing it? Okay . Don’t know how you can be proud of an Alma Mater that seems okay with this . You must be one of the special ones.
