Oklahoma State Updates Football Roster for Spring

Keep this thing handy. There’s a lot of new names to learn before September.

Some thoughts:

RB - One gobbsmacking hit from having an average backfield? Keith Toston’s senior year he was listed at 6” 205 lbs, Desmond Roland was 6’2” and 210 and he took some vicious hits and looked very lean like Hawkins. Hoping Hawkins gains some muscle! On the positive side Joseph Randall was able to stay healthy at oSu. What happened to the rb from Washington, Oklahoma (hoping he was a diamond in the rough coming from Tennessee)?

OL - 9 Juniors or Seniors with experience available. Anxious to see an OL unhindered by Gundyball (ie. post Monken when the wheels came off for 2 otherwise solid OL coaches).

DT - 4 Juniors/Seniors oncampus. Macon and Webb need to be in rotation early for depth. Could really use Iman Oates this year!

DE - 7 Seniors and 2 Juniors available? Do some Seniors want to redshirt (if they haven’t already?).

CB - is 7 enough?

62 new players - HCEM said he took like 74 and then 65 the past two years at NT! When you count the 21 that are familiar with NT, this doesn’t look as bad as it could have been and could be an auspicious beginning.

Weiberg - work on getting the Tulsa game moved to Thursday/Friday so HCEM has more time to prep!

It was nice to see OK St. lead the transfer portal for a while. Even if it was the Colorado effect. Coach Morris and his leadership team did well acommodating for a wild situation. If even half of the team gels early, we will win more games than people think. #1 production offense players last year and all.

Curious to see the overall attitude of this team. Are they excited? got something to prove? just happy to be alive? Im curious about the mentality of the squad now. They apprear to check many boxes in comparison to the success weve seen with less. JS. Not sure how to take us importing an actual QB, instead of another injury.
I hope we beat the brakes off of Oregon in our house, even if the humility of the last two years says thats not possible.

Go pokes!

Should have probably retained Rodney Fields, but he grabbed two other RBs he’s coached. He really emphasized continuity and familiarity in how he built out this roster. Even the guys he hasn’t coached before are guys he recruited at UNT. He might have been too narrowly focused on the familiarity aspect, but I do think it’s the best chance to have good season, and he must feel confident in those two guys to work in his offense.
