I still believe NHL hockey players are the best sports athletes, but I now have a different level of respect for water polo players. Swimming or treading water during the entire match without touching the floor, and you can only use one hand to receive or throw the ball. That seems to require a different level of strength than what I can imagine.

I don’t think I’d agree about the athlete part, but toughest and fittest of the major sports I can easily get on board with.
Water polo is crazy too and they’re doing all that while getting beat up above and below the water.

Water polo has got to be the hardest for sure. Floating in a deep pool or lake without flotation gets tiring after like a minute or two. These guys are doing it for crazy amounts of time while playing a sport. Gotta be the most tiring / endurance demanding.

I think it’s overblown and people are just trying to cause a stir, but technically it was geared toward the last supper. At least according to ESPN’s article including their apology.

It was supposed to be the Last Supper even according to those who performed it, but the Games people put out the X tweet saying it was mimicking the Greek feast instead as a CYA move when everyone complained about mocking the Last Supper. Even many in the LGBT community said it was way too far and causing further division with the groups (Catholics, Protestants) from whom they would like to have more respect and inclusion. But it gave the Games clickbait so I guess they ultimately got the “attention” they wanted.
