This is big! I read an article where he was hoping to be drafted in the top-10 rounds. Once that didn’t happen, he quit watching the draft tracker. He has big time potential. Already throwing 95 this summer.

Where is the hitting coming for guys ? We have a few arms but where do we get the hits
Were there guys on the bench to slot in ?
Did we have some good recruits coming in ?
Need to stay healthy and have a few guys step up like this year but I think the bats should be fine. Big bats are Schubart and Meola and you hope Ritchie can be there too next year. Sylvester is a big time bat too. Daugherty and Ortiz should be good. Bruggy is there too I guess. LaSalle should be good. Got a JUCO outfielder from Cowley and an infielder from Iowa Western who can both really hit too. Freshmen Shull can hit and then the transfers from Missouri and Arkansas didn’t hit great up to this point but not any different than Forsythe coming here.

Hey thanks for the info. I knew Bruggy was hit and miss a lot last year. Schubart the main guy. Actually thought Meola was gone Just need some guys to step up then
Sir Jamison Jones was a recruit that signed as well. He was drafted by the Nationals!

How did I miss that? I had him on my list, just failed. We have a logjam at catcher, but he may have taken that spot if he made it to campus.
Yeah, catcher shouldn’t be a problem for next year. We did have a ton of guys drafted but it could have been worse! Several of those freshmen pitchers have the potential to be really good and Ure coming back is huge!

It’s pretty hit or miss to be honest. College baseball recruiting coverage is lagging behind where I think the sport is popularity wise now.
I follow all the people on the OSU beat on twitter and they’re pretty good about tweeting out announcements of commitments. JUCO guys are sometimes hit or miss on whether they get announced by anyone affiliated with OSU. Daniel Allen from the ocolly has been on top of the transfers this year. I also look at Perfect Game for high school recruits but I don’t have a subscription. I get pretty into the mlb draft so I knew about Shull since he’s probably one of the top three or four high school players making it to campus.

I also go to twitter this time of year and type @osubaseball into the search. Players usually get tagged in post by scouts/summer league teams. Sometimes you can find players that even the OSU guys haven’t mentioned. Example, Pitcher Sean Youngerman. He’s had a really good summer, and I haven’t seen any OSU people talk about him.

A lot of it is just updates on our guys in summer league, which is still some good info! Several of our pitchers who didn’t see much time last year have had good summers. Blake Julius and Kyle Bade have been fantastic, hopefully that will translate to college ball.

I’m coaching 12u baseball and found this gem on youtube. Amazing that they dedicated a 2 hour show to hitting. I’ve watched about a 3rd of it now, very interesting.

These are awesome! They did a whole series of “The Hitting Machine.” I used to get a new VHS every year when I went to Ward’s camps as a kid. I just wish I knew where they were.

Apparently he still lives in Stillwater at the retirement community (Legacy). On another board they were saying he’s doing well.

If you have access to OSUMax, they did a 3-part series recently with Gary and Tom Dirato just shooting the breeze about his life and time at OSU. It was awesome!

Yes, he’s doing well. Gundy and Hunziker do the radio show from Legacy now. I’d love to check it out sometime. Have a cousin who is an administrator there. She loves the place.
