I don’t know where else to put this: How do I stop my washing machine from leaking badly from the bottom? It’s a Samsung Self-Clean top load.

Whatever you do, don’t get stuck in it.

That typically leads to bad things.

Yeah, if I hear the cymbal and snare beat drop, I’m in big trouble. :joy:

I’ve typed like 4 different responses to this and the best I can come up with is that you find the leak…don’t think there is a catch all answer to a leaking washer haha

Thanks for trying!

We have a Samsung front load and we have to drain the filter every few months. Idk if yours has that but it’s bottom right on mine. If it’s clogged could be the cause.

Thank you!!!

Yep, totally forgot about that. Does yours also have a hose?

I don’t think so haha. I open up the cap and just let it drain into a pitcher on its side.

:joy:. Ours has a little hose that requires a little “milking” to get it drained out. Flashes of our son first learning to aim his pee.

Little man is super congested tonight and coughing up a storm. Wife’s pretty worried about it seeing as he’s so young but the pediatrician basically said he’s going to get sick, almost unavoidable, and it’s better to happen now than in January or February when it’s freezing out. We’re getting him checked in the morning. Any recommendations in the meantime are much appreciated!

I don’t specialize specifically in pediatric medicine. Nonetheless, the one thing I would watch out for would be what’s called a febrile seizure. These can happen when a baby gets its first ever fever and does NOT mean the child has or will have epilepsy. It’s kind of like when your first turn on your home heater and smoke comes out. The brain has to realize the temperature has gone up and not “freak out”. Most febrile seizures are very benign, but I bring it up so you don’t panic if you see it. Other than that, metholatum/Vicks Vaporub put on warm moist wash cloth and the cloth applied to the chest is commonly recommended for congested babies.

Bad memories. My son had a febrile seizure the day after his first birthday. Was terrifying. Appeared lifeless. Face white, lips blue, and nonresponsive. We were in Edmond driving when it happened. Urgent care was a few blocks away and traffic was horrible. Honked and split the traffic. Ran into the clinic with him limp in my arms and just yelled help. A few minutes later he was in an ambulance headed to OU Children’s. He was there a few days with viral meningitis and then all was ok again.

Sorry to hear about your situation, Jim. If your child had viral meningitis, that on its own can induce a seizure that is very severe like you mentioned. So as not to scare @OSUgrad or others, I will say most febrile seizures in a child with his/her first fever are not nearly as severe as you mentioned (pretty benign - some shaking or short-term unconsciousness but not typically a stoppage of breathing, etc.). That’s because regular febrile seizures are not due to a brain infection like your child’s case. Rather most febrile seizure are from a simple respiratory virus (cold or flu), etc. that has not entered the brain. Any kind of brain infection (meningitis) can cause rather severe seizures in any one of any age (baby, child, adult), regardless of whether they had a history of seizures or if it’s their first fever.

What is one of the sayings…parenting is the toughest job you’ll ever love? Or something along those lines. Crazy rollercoaster.

Y’all got one of those electric nose suction?

That in tandem with humidifier and/or sticking em in the bathroom letting the shower steam to thin the mucus goes a long way

We had pretty good success with the nose frida (SP?) For getting out an ungodly amount of snot. Better than a bulb suction. Gotta have strong lungs though. I got light headed a couple times.
