PFB Picks: Predictions for Bedlam

Originally published at: https://pistolsfiringblog.com/pfb-picks-predictions-for-bedlam/

The Bedlam game to end all Bedlam games — literally. Oklahoma State hosts Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in what will be the final meeting for the in-state foes for the foreseeable future as OU leaves OSU and the Big 12 for the SEC after this season. Here is how we see the game playing out. Marshall Scott Score: Oklahoma State 34, Oklahoma 31 Game MVP: Ollie Gordon Uniform: Black (Cursive)-Orange-Black Thoughts: When I was sitting in the press box in Norman last year and OSU was down 28-0 in the blink of an eye, I told myself I can never pick OSU in this football game again. But here I am. It’s at the point where Ollie Gordon just seems unstoppable. Pair that with OU looking wobbly and this game being played in what ought to be a hornet’s nest in Boone Pickens Stadium, and I think it’s too much for the Sooners to overcome. If Gordon goes for 200 in an OSU win here, the national hype train is going to go off the rails. Martians might start talking about Gordon. Kyle Cox Score: Oklahoma State 37. Oklahoma 33 Game MVP: Ollie Gordon Uniform: Black (Cursive)-Black-Orange Thoughts: I can’t believe I’m doing this either,…

This game is obviously key. I must give Gundy, and more importantly the players, a lot of credit, to have come back this far. Clearly, there is a lot of talent and therefore it still makes me wonder about Central Arkansas that really is not a very good team having just recently loss to Tarleton State. Between that loss and the stupid NIL comment: “‘I’ve been here for 40 years, and I can do what I want,’ Gundy reportedly said, emphasizing that many of his staff disagreed with his stance on NIL." Gundy still has a lot to prove IMO before am willing to concede he is still the right guy for the job in today’s environment. I do not like NIL or the Transfer Portal but it is unfortunately now part of CFB. A win against OU might just show something and dispense the theory that Gundy cannot be competitive in the big moments.

I just can’t OSU to win. I guess I have PTBS (Post Traumatic Bedlam Syndrome) lol.
I don’t the trust the D to not give up the big play and I’ve seen Gundy go into his shell too many times in this game to be confident.
OU 34
OSU 31
Please let me be wrong.

Agree, but hopefully Gundy won’t go into his “shell” mode but instead will go into his “rant” mode and actually get fired up and emotional. Would love to see an emotional Gundy in a big game and actually inspire his players!

It’s Friday morning, and I’m just not sure how to feel. Sick at the thought of getting blown out or losing a heartbreaker again, mostly. I could cry. I will be so glad when it’s over and I never have to care about this game again.

Predicting wins across the board is wild. I’ve seen this game play out too many times. We are good enough to win this game but I just can’t bring myself to say we will. Gundy better have his balls firmly attached tomorrow.

Obviously im an OU fan, so take that for what its worth. I think this is a really good matchup for OU. OSU has a bigtime RB. While Gordon is a stud, I think OU will do a good job of keeping him contained. Venables defense gets in trouble with the “eye-candy” and mobile QB’s. OSU doesnt feature either of those. I think this is a game that goes under the 60.5 and OU covers. Last Bedlam for a while and I hate it.

Indifferent about last Bedlam as it is something that is easily avoided, but … it is always about the money and the fans will always be there. Regardless, without OU, who can we hate now? All the replacement teams seem to be an upgrade given OU’s criminal past starting with the Bootlegger’s Boy.

@scott32 I was with you until the last line of naïveté. An upgrade!!! You lost any credibility with that line. Colorado? Baylor? If you want a Conf full of lily white programs, have at it. But you’re gonna have to kick out all the old SW Conf members and Colorado. Baylor……trying to think……didn’t they have an issue? Oh yeah……50+ no reported rapes and the murder of a basketball player. GO BIG 12!!

And do you have a comment on Trey Rucker? Starting safety for the Cowboys who got his 2nd DUI the morning after the Iowa St game……& never got a suspension of any kind.

For the record, I don’t have an issue. Gundy runs a good program. But I think the sentiment that somehow the Uni of Oklahoma is any better or worse than others is pretty naive

I do not want you to right about this. I think our offense will score, I’m just not sure what OSU’s defense is going to do. I could see Ollie having a more pedestrian game of say 120 yards rushing and a couple of shorter TDs so I don’t disagree. I think it really depends on what OU’s offense can or can’t do with OSU’s defense.

@TayJ Good call on the 120 yards for Gordon. Vegas has his o/u on rushing yds Sat set @123

Yep, and what did Baylor do? Fired a pretty good coach. What did OU do? Three national championships before the Bootlegger’s Boy finally forced to resign. Of course, it was a different era but the stench remains and But OU should be right at home with the Gators. My guess it that it won’t be long before you creep onto the rival Gator’s blog.

PTBS. I like it! And I have it too. After the multitudes of times of losing when the teams were evenly matched or OSU was favored to protect my sanity I can not let myself think or predict that we could win this game. I’m going to watch the game but I’m preparing myself for the worst.

If Ollie is held to 120 yards and the other backs don’t gain more than token yards then we will lose unless OU plays a very flawed game with turnovers and penalties.

Osu 35 to uo 25

@scott32 I’m trying to remember here……didn’t OSU basketball just recently get in some trouble with the NCAA? During the late 80’s, did OSU football suffer any NCAA sanctions like OU? Surely not. Dexter Manley ring a bell? I notice you skipped right over the Trey Rucker question. Every program has some skeletons. OU does. Oklahoma State does too. You see, you guys are much like us. Not much difference really. And of all the SEC programs to pick on for being filthy……Florida? I can name 10 “scandals” of dirty business at other institutions in the SEC before I’d get to Florida. And you say they’re a “rival”?!?! I’m not sure you have any comprehension of the true history of college football.

Your kidding right?

I think the staff/admin is waiting for the facts to come out, called innocent until proven guilty. I’m sure they will dispense punishment if the facts are not in Trey’s favor.

You wouldn’t hate that it’s the last Bedlam if you were on the OSU side.

No. I’m not. Why did OSU fire Lamont Evans?

Now, to be clear here……I’m not saying OSU is some renegade athletic dept. Not by any stretch. OSU is just like most programs who do it right. But for someone on here or any other site to act like OU is somehow different or worse than OSU is ignorant. Both universities have solid leadership from the Administration thru the coaches.
