28-10 4th quarter show down. Gundy trying to figure out who to play.
Just crazy Gundy is at the point in his coaching career that he can no longer decide who is a better player is on the field. He’s to the point where he doesn’t even trust himself to make the right decision. He’s scared to make the wrong decision because he has so many times before. And it’s crazy he’s still HERE!! This man hasn’t put an offensive line together in like 15 years! No coach will ever break that record.
If any of these predictions for the score are indicative of reality, we’re in trouble with the rest of the season. It’s UT-Martin at home. Should be a 56-3 final.
Martin went 9-5 last year and were beat 41-6 by K State, who was much better last year then we are this year…so we shall see.
I’m saying 27-10 only because I have no idea what the offense will be like. What I’ve heard the defense should cause them a lot of problems the way the DC likes to blitz and cause havoc
I would like to see the offense humm like we have seen then before
Arkansas, for example, has had the same offensive line problems for the last two decades, but they’ve gone through countless coaches and the Head Coach they have now is an Offensive line coach! with the same big time issues! Gundy has had. OL is the foundation of your team and consistent quality performance has always been an issue for both schools. The only difference is Gundy has managed to keep things manageable for 18 years in a row, until last year. Now he’s hired 3 OL coaches, one for Tackles, one for Guards and one for the Center position, all alumni and the OC is an oSu OL veteran as well. I’m willing to give him a mulligan and see what these guys can achieve, especially since they are alumni. Go Pokes!
I don’t care what their record was last year. They are UT-Martin. This new staff and roster need to act like it. The anger and embarrassment of last season needs to fuel this team all season. Unload every ounce of frustration. The one’s who have been here need to impress upon the new guys the importance of starting off on the right foot.
I hope you’re right, but as Lou Holtz once said: “They give scholarships to the other team as well”. We don’t beat every FCS team 56-3. In 2021 when we played for the B12 title we only beat Missouri St 23-16. Other examples include Arizona St last year only beat Texas St 31-28. In 2021 Kansas St only beat Southern Illinois 31-23 and the year before they lost to Arkansas St 31-35. In 2023 Georgia only beat UT Martin 48-7 (see where your expectations are going). In 2021 Alabama beat Mercer 48-14. In 2022 Ohio St beat Arkansas St 45-12 and in 2023 the Buckeyes beat Youngstown St 35-7. All those scores are closer than 56-3. I hope we do pound them, but we will be starting a Freshman QB and have an overhauled roster and completely new schemes on offense and defense.
He did suck at picking quarterbacks, so he trusted in his coordinator and let him get his guy.
Isn’t that growth? Or was he supposed to keep screwing up without change? Confused on your point
He just hates everything Gundy-adjacent. He doesn’t know any better…
GO POKES!!
Hey champ,
We literally had two players with rushing crowns in that span. If Gundy is producing #1 rushers with trash O-lines, then he’s a genius.
Like many others, I give way too much thought and time to OSU football…
For the past many years, the days and hours leading up to Game 1 have been filled with “How good are we going to be?” thoughts.
This time, it’s more “How bad are we going to be?”
It’s not really the glass half-empty/half-full argument. I am not being negative. I think I have low expectations that will be easily exceeded this year – as opposed to high expectations last year that were woefully unmet.
All that said, good gosh a’mighty…what is we lose tonight?!
Yes that OL doesn’t look any better.
