Missouri. There are some programs that are formulating rosters by “buying” free agents out of the portal. Mizzou is one of ‘em. This one was done dirty like what USC/Riley did, but that’s how it goes. But make no mistake……he’s a very good player.

That’s not accurate. OU just has a system by which they approach “paying” guys. OU is on par with what they should be doing. They just aren’t going to throw stupid money at guys the way A&M, Oregon, Ole Miss and some others do. OU matched the offer thar Mizzou made when it came to Green. But Mizzou also got Chris McClellan from the portal. OU was in on him, but he went to the highest bidder (Mizzou). OU wasn’t gonna pay that kid, nor should they. To say OU doesn’t have “SEC” money is inaccurate. It’s not the SEC alone that’s guilty of paying guys. It’s A&M, Oregon, Miami, Ole Miss, USC, Mizzou, LSU. Nebraska is getting in on it too.
We OSU, lost one to Mizzuo two years ago. Jernigan a DT , guess he was still starting this year. It would be his senior year.
But when does the madness stop !! I tell you when it stops, when kids being bought and then not playing to their previous potential. Yes even BB run out of money. I actually think at some point it’s bad for a kid/man. I’ve seen other than us looking at D2 and D3 schools for players

I’ve said it multiple times on here……the easiest fix is by simply making them sit a year. A player wouldn’t be near as quick to move if he had to sit out a year. Other programs wouldn’t be near as aggressive in poaching players if they had to sit a year. Schools wouldn’t be throwing near as much $$ at a kid if they had to wait a year to get a return on their investment. You could put a caveat in there if a HC left for any reason. Or some hardship like they used to have. That would clean the portal up pretty quickly. Then the only thing you’d have left to worry about is offering $$ to HS recruits, which was how it used to be.
I’ll agree on sitting a year, no one will throw a bunch of money for a kid to sit a year.
Stop throwing a bunch of money to HS kids that haven’t proved a dam thing yet

If you matched Missouri number to keep Green from portaling why did he leave ,? Has to be a reason ? Is his dad running the show for him ? All I heard was “ talk to my dad “
I didnt watch all of sam mayes last post. He it seem all ab I ut green and this stuff. I thought they were saying they doubled ou offers. But like i sais i didnt watch it all or cared to much.

Who was the high rated kid last year that it came down to uo and Missouri ? He signed with Mizzuo but they said he was really flaky. I think he had committed 3-4 different times ?

Well, according to the Dad, he said OU drug their feet on upping the offer. That it took too long to do it. If you read between the lines, seems like Dad is calling the shots. Green grew up as a pup in Tulsa, but graduated HS from Lees Summit in Missouri. So one can only guess

There have been 2 bigtime recruits lately come down to OU/Mizzou. Luther Burden a couple classes ago & then the Nwanweri kid in this cycle. Both were in-state kids who ultimately went to Mizzou. There’s no doubt with the success they had this year on the field & signing the Nwanweri kid that Mizzou seems like it’s got something going. But they’re throwing a bunch of money around & as of now, the model of buying players thru the portal hasn’t been super successful. Ole Miss has probably been the most successful so far of that bunch.

That signed with Mizzou? That’s the two big ones. OU had the Hicks kid locker down last year right up until signing day. Even had a video made. Then at the ceremony……signs with A&M. But as far as Mizzou/OU, it’s been Burden & Nwanweri.
