Holy crap!
Dallas to El Paso, although only 7-8 hours, is dumb.
You might want to plan a couple more hours for that drive, chimp
lol
Visited here last week - literally not much to see but the capital building.
Yeah, went up there for vacation a few years ago- to Wyoming in general. I thought it was funny that you could practically park at the front door of the capital building.
Looking for a February President’s Day getaway. Anybody been to Puerto Rico? Good choice for long weekend?
Doing USVI in March already.
Yeah, hard pass on Puerto Rico. For something in that region, I strongly recommend instead the Cayman Islands - Grand Cayman if you like a night life and Cayman Brac or Little Cayman if you want serene natural beach beauty or snorkeling/scuba.
Also, I haven’t been to Turks and Caicos yet, but it’s on my wish list.
Turks is fantastic as long as you’re ok with driving on the opposite side. We took a snorkel trip (i.e. booze cruise) around the island and it’s all just pristine looking ocean.
Yes, would love to go to Turks for snorkeling and just sitting on the beach. We had to drive on left for Cayman too since it is a British territory. But driving on the left in Cayman Islands was much easier than driving on the left in the Scotland highlands
I’ve been to 16 different countries and never rented a car (I don’t count Canada). Def been a few times I wish I had, but for the most part never really needed it. Is driving on the other side jokingly hard? Lol
Not really. Right turn on a divided road can give you pause. USVI is left and I adjust right away now. Been 5+ times.
I was with my buddy that lives on St Thomas and I was driving his car and we went into a cul-de-sac and he goes next time we want to go the other way
Driving on the left is not bad - just gotta not autopilot, especially when turning right. Keep in mind that most countries that drive on the left also have the driver sitting on the right, so it kind of balances out, LOL. Worse than driving on the left to me is the 6-lane roundabout (yes, these do exist!). Those are just crazy with weird rules. Plus having a roundabout come out of nowhere like every 5 miles on a freaking motorway (our version of an expressway) is very annoying
Or a no-lane roundabout like the Arc de Triumph.
That one is fun. I’ve done it a few times.
If you’re right handed it sucks having to use your left hand to change the song or update the map. I was also constantly engaging the windshield wipers instead of the turn signal.
Hmmm, now where have I experienced something similar? Oh yea, school desks, scissors, spiral notebooks. I weep for your discomfort.
Very true. I’m glad I only have to deal with that inconvenience in rare occasions.
But to your original point, fortunately in the limited international travel I’ve taken I haven’t had to deal with what you described, and I’m not sure I want to…at least while trying to navigate a car at anything more than 20 KPH
