Based mostly on work change in carrier, I switched a few years back from being primarily United to primarily Delta. United was awful! I have a lot of experience with American too from non-business flights, and it was always better than United. But Delta is the GOAT for me and it’s not close.
I used to fly United when they had a non-stop to LA and Newark and they were nice, but when those assignments were completed I tried them for other trips and experienced frequent problems. AA wasn’t too far behind. For me right now I’m with you, Delta provides what I need better than the others…domestically and to/from Europe.
Riverwalk. You can take the stairs down anywhere on Wacker.
Fun mile walk with bars. You can rent boats too or kayaks
At night on the River you can see Art on the Mart. Especially trippy with some local legal bud
Little Italy street fest is this weekend quick Uber over near UIC
Grab a divvy and ride the lake front north and people watch on the beaches
United has historically been awful but I’ve had great experiences on two flights this summer. Delta isn’t an option with no Texas hub.
Which airline with a Texas hub is best?
- Southwest
- United
- American
They all have the same issues. Don’t fool yourself. Grass isn’t always greener.
Delta service is consistently better, but their miles redemptions have become a joke. Delta miles to Europe in Biz you’re lucky to find roundtrip for under 200k. AA as low as 110k roundtrip.
Obviously depends on where you’re traveling to and from. You’re out of Tulsa right? So you wanna swing through Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta? Haha
I’ve caught the last United flight back from SFO a few times the last year and if comparing to AA, the service is about the same. The food on United was way worse. The seat/comfort was also worse. United (and delta) has older fleet I’m pretty sure.
If we are just talking service/comfort I would fly delta every time.
However two reasons I fly AA are 1) nonstop anywhere from here in Dallas and 2) their points redemptions have become the best IMO
Same issues, just different traveler experiences which is why I may prefer Delta and you may prefer American. Agreed, if I’m just headed to Texas anywhere south of Dallas I just default to SW. To DFW region, I’m normally driving.
Out of Tulsa so prefer DFW. I just don’t like the seating for Southwest and AA has been hell since early May.
Delta, AA, and United have a very similar delayed flight rate (20%) so don’t expect that to change if you switch.
One thing that has worsened with AA is that everyone is elite status now lol. On most my flights there’s 60+ on the upgrade list. Granted sfo-dfw is biz heavy but still.
I see that stat a lot but I think it makes a difference which airport too.
Definitely true. Because I fly Delta the most I am often routed through Atlanta or Salt Lake. Very rarely do I get delayed there. And I’ve been delayed more in Salt Lake than Atlanta despite it being the bigger aiport. But when I was forced to fly United, I got delayed at Chicago Ohare or Newark constantly.
Unless someone else wants to pay for my flight and make the decision, or some kind of emergency, I won’t connect through O’Hare. That’s my bad luck airport.
Hey, @michael13 , Ireland is definitely worth it. It was my official retirement trip. Guinness on tap is just different there.
I was also in Prague, Czechia last November. Good beer, as reported.
Thanks , I’ve got to try it !!!
We did a long European trip a few years ago and I wish we had canceled going to Venice and spent more time in Prague and surrounding areas. Walking around that city at night is just a different feeling. The area by the astrological clock tower probably my favorite, then walking along the river. Beautiful
Dubrovnik was one of our favorite ports on our cruise.
One of my favorite cities.
I did not like Split on the other hand
The SMU WBB team did their European “games” a few weeks ago and they did Greece and Croatia. Everyone I talked to said it was an incredible trip. I’ve heard great things about Croatia.
