Gonna go out on a limb and say Carroll is going to start for us next year. Regardless of whether he wins or not, making the Last Chance finals is incredible for a guy who hasn’t even wrestled in college and is coming off a redshirt year.

Edit: Also to add, he beat a 4x AA and former NCAA runner up in the semis. He’s beating some real high level dudes this weekend.

Yea I think he starts in 197 for us, and Hughes in 133 it feels like.

He is freakishly fast for how big he is. And obviously super strong. His last 2 was a gut wrench that you wouldn’t have expected him to get. His first takedown he looked like a 125 going behind and took that straight into a gut wrench. Man I’m pumped for him. He is gonna go 97 and honestly he kinda makes me think of Keck in how he wrestles. So smart, strong, and fast. I’m pumped right now after how good he looked today.

We get to see him again at the trials now with this win.

That Christian Carroll kid might have some promise https://pistolsfiringblog.com/osu-wrestling-christian-carroll-qualifies-for-olympic-team-trials-with-last-chance-title/

thanks Dekota. It would be great if you could do an article on the trials and who Daton, Alex and Christian have at their perspective weights - paths to final X once brackets are released,… Maybe already in the works.

Also of note at Last Chance. Jax Forrest (rumor is we are the favorite) a class of 26 I think teched NATO who was a 4x AA at Ohio state.

Not just teched him, he did it in only 1:18. Forrest is unreal, and has come to Stillwater numerous times to train with guys like Daton Fix. He’d be a massive get if we landed him.

Will definitely have some preview content once brackets are out. And will hopefully get to have some Olympic preview content this summer.

To add to the Jax Forrest stuff, apparently he had Zoheir El-Ouarraqe (one of the Cowboy RTC coaches) in his corner today. Seems like a pretty good sign that he’s planning on being in Stillwater if he’s already got one of our guys in his corner.

Glad to hear we are in tight with Forrest.

Unrelared, is CC giving anyone else Kyler Snyder vibes? Obviously Snyder is one of the greatest US Wrestlers we have ever had, but if CC can be that quick and aggressive at 197 next year, watch out. They are similar in style from the limited film I have seen on CC. Also, both were #1 overall recruits out of HS by at least one recruiting ranking service.

I don’t know enough about how the weights work on wrestling but I’m assuming you just can’t be above your listed weight, but can be below? Like weighing 192 but wrestling at 197?

So my question is, CC looks THICK! If he’s sitting at 210lbs right now and if 97k is his preferred international weight, wouldn’t college 197 be a really tough cut for him to maintain? Seems like if he’s constantly fluctuating for college v international that would take a huge toll

Some dudes are able to handle weight cutting well. And from what I’ve seen people with knowledge of the program say Carroll is incredibly disciplined and hardworking.

He is 5-10. He was bulked for HWT, but with discipline someone 5-10 should be able to cut to 197. The question more so will be how much strength does he lose. With what everyone is saying I bet it’s not much.

Don’t confuse this as me saying it’s easy. Definitely will take effort.
