Well this is gonna be a lot of fun! https://pistolsfiringblog.com/oklahoma-state-wrestling-coach-david-taylor-to-compete-at-u-s-world-team-trials/
Yes! Already official.
Love it. Rep that cowboy wrestling club!
I was curious so reached out to a top recruit, and from a recruit’s perspective he thinks DT competing is great for recruiting.
I was reading a penn state board and they were calling it a $hitshow and saying that it shows recruits that they’re not the priority. Apparently forgetting that they’re own coach did the same thing
Now that is funny…
Yeah, I think this is pretty inarguably a good thing for OSU for this exact reason. Who better to convince a recruit that he knows how to make them world class than a guy who’s actively at the top of the sport right now?
The recruit specifically mentioned how that shows DT be in shape to train with the guys “for a very long time.”
I mean Smith did it to start his career and we were regularly competing for championships not too long after that if I’m remembering the timeline correctly.
We won our first title under John 2 years after he wrestled in the Olympics as our coach, and Cael wrestled his last world championships the same year he won his 1st title at Penn State. So the track record is absolutely there for a coach simultaneously still wrestling while coaching for titles.
Maybe DT could still get his COVID year and wrestle for the Pokes next season. Has a D1 wrestling program ever had a player/coach??
I rambled as long as it’d let me, but here’s my video of everything you need to know about DT competing again and my take on it: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8e6pJuB/
Yea I’ve read their board and to me they are the epitome of the goons board in football. They are untouchable until Cael retires. We are yesterdays news … fing jerks
He looks good in orange!
Oliver and Dieringer won their first matches as well. All 4 Pokes/former Pokes are into the quarters.
All 4 OSU guys into the semis, although Daton and DT’s weights have a champ waiting at the end, so really they’re just into the quarters.
Marcus Blaze is really good. Wrestled so smoothly against nashon to make the final.
Daton beats DeSanto 6-0. Good stuff
