I did see the article. It was a bit of tongue and cheek about a non-drafted, free-agent from Samford (not Stanford) replacing Rudolph last year. I’m sure you have read articles about the Steelers acquiring J.T. Barrett and Paxton Lynch. They are in search for a viable #2 QB for the future because they don’t believe Mason is the guy. The Steelers have even been rumored in considering Jameis Winston as #2 this year and possible starter when Ben is gone. Mason has a contract through '22 so he still has the opportunity to prove himself. The Steelers are looking to the future and Mason needs to impress the staff.
