On optimism, the most important Bedlam and more.
Interesting that responders predicted only a 7.5 wins, but in the game by game prediction gave OSU a better than 60% chance (or a solid favorite) to win 9 games.
I can buy having having Texas Tech and Kansas State as two different type of rivals. In high school, our two main rivals were a completely different feel. One was rivalry where you wanted to beat them but at the end of the day it was rooted in respect for being so similar. The other was totally based in hatred and trash talk.
OSU fans project the Cowboys to win 7.8 games this season. — Didn’t think my fellow Ok State fans and alums had a whole lot of realism in their bones. I picked 7 so let’s hope most of us are wrong, but I doubt it. If we win 9 or more then Gumby earned his salary.
Kenny Gajewski getting deserved love is what Dave’s poll is all about. You like to see it!
Boynton needs to be fired.
It’s important to to remember that a 60% chance of winning a game is not a “win”. You still have a 40% of losing that game, so when I add up the percentages it counts at a 0.6. So theoretically if we had a 60% chance of winning every game, you could say we’ll go 12-0 but in reality you’re looking at a ~7 win season because we’ll win some of those but we’ll lose some too.
You can really see how the year before controls the vote on coaches. Im sorry but, thats how fans vote. Because how the fans vote never matches how the season went.
Totally agree with that observation that fans like the local kids. Of course I want OSU to get all the best players, but when the Oklahoma kids rise to the top I am rooting extra for them. Its not really on purpose, its just an involuntary response. We’ve had some great in-state players though. Weeden to Blackmon comes to mind.
You’re not big on reading, writing, rithmatic are you?
If you look at the numbers, Pokes fans are predicting 10 wins when you look at individual games.
@OKCDave
Looking forward to your weighted averages tutorial with this crowd
As always love your survey. Thanks for putting the work in for us!
But you are, huh, Fake Dave?! Might wanna scroll up so you can figure out, former 4.0 guy.
That’s true if ALL the games were exactly 60% predicted wins. But in this case some of those individual games were up to 80 and 90% wins. I didn’t calculate it out, but it looked to me like if you took the predicted win %'s for individual games it would be higher than 7.5. Maybe not - I didn’t go back and calculate.
The total was 7.8. Although I bet some people might reevaluate that now.
