If Zac comes here then he really bleeds orange and that will be good for us. He’s still an up-and-comer in the NFL who has started getting some buzz about HC jobs. NFL HC jobs are just so head-and-shoulders above college HC jobs and college HC is not really a better stepping stone to NFL HC than NFL OC is. Lateral at best, probably backwards, more money though.
He’d come here if…
- OSU is a dream job for him
- He wants the money over the chance for upward mobility
- His NFL prospects dim this year and he wants to cut his losses or expand his résumé
I say it’s a 25% chance. Could happen, probably won’t.

Champster! He was already offered the job when the BOR didn’t think Gundy would except their terms. Sounds like Zac might have received a demotion with the Falcons so I don’t know if this will have any bearing on their decision to submit another offfer. I am good friends with Josh Henson and I know he would love to come back to Stillwater.
Ok, my third point was having his prospects dimmed in the NFL, so that might up my percentages, but not to where I would say it’s 50/50. NFL OC is still a better job than College HC if you want to be an NFL HC which is the best job in sports (other than maybe like a GM or cushy front office job), but if you like to be involved on-the-field of play day to day, it’s the best job.
People keep mentioning Henson but I honestly had to look him up online because I had no idea who he was until yesterday. Based on his resume, no one has really wanted to give him a chance to call plays until now at Purdue. That makes me hesitant.
I think I am just as curious about the O and D coordinators as I am with who the HC will be. If its Zac, who will he tap for OC and DC? If its Klein, who will he bring in?
