Can OSU find a way to replicate what UCLA did to the Nittany Lions?
The quick answer: No
OSU does not have Qb of Imaleava type talent. Now could OSU win a game if it was played in a downpour where game conditions deteriorate beyond belief and we just happen to fall on more fumbles than the other team? I guess it’s possible, but I wouldn’t count on it.
Just for some context: ESPN put out there updated SP+ rankings yesterday.
Out of 136 FBS teams, OSU was ranked 117. That’s worst ranking for any team in a Power Four conference. The next worse P4 team is North Carolina at 102.
If Hejny comes back soon (which I think he’s done for the year), the only games I could see as winnable are:
Kansas: They have to go to Tech and then there’s the sunflower showdown. It’s two big games so maybe Kansas won’t have much in the tank when they play OSU.
Kansas State: It’s a home game and K State isn’t that good.
UCF: In the Knights schedule, OSU is sandwiched between #9 Texas Tech at Lubbock and #18 BYU at Provo. Could set up as trap game.
With all that said, 1-11 is all but certain.
We’re literally so lethargic in every area I don’t think we can. We have issues at literally almost every position on both sides of the ball. We’ve given up 40+ points to every P4 opponent so far, and average 14 ppg against them.
Just to put it in perspective. The 2020 Kansas team averaged 15 ppg against P4 competition and went 0-9. Are we better than the 2020 Kansas Jayhawks?
Fixed it for you
Thanks
One good thing is our run game (as bad as it is,) is better than OU ‘s. They’ve got a really good defense and a better passing game than us, but our rushing yards ranking is like 94 while they’re 96.
