Gundy on the biggest loss in his coaching career.
Still my team. Still my school.
Beat KU!
Yes, but at some point, even loyal fans have to say enough is enough. Great that Gundy accepted responsibility for not preparing the team, but that is Gundy’s only job and he is paid $7.5 million to do the job. In no other profession is it acceptable to simply say, sorry, I didn’t do my job, and we lost. It would be considered malpractice in my profession and there would be financial consequences. What is most disturbing is that Gundy stand on the sideline showing no emotion, except oh, well, “we got our butts beat but I have have had my butt beat before…” When losing big games has become the acceptable norm, it is time for a coaching change. All the other programs, including the two top teams this year, KSU and TCU made positive changes. It is time for a coach that does not accept losing.
Every adversity brings opportunity!
When Gundy said they didn’t prepare the team or coach well enough going into the KSU game it was hindsight after the game told him that. I really doubt that he felt that way going into the game. Everyone has a poor performance now and then. If it, poor performance, starts showing up on semi-regular basis then yes a change should be under consideration.
