Just a counter argument, here’s a year by year breakdown of avg player rating showing an incredible amount of consistency in recruiting. Your article indicates a huge drop, but this shows otherwise. I would argue that perhaps we aren’t getting as many on the higher end, but that we seem to be recruiting much better depth (which is seen irl by us no longer giving up those huge leads we used to like against UT and others).

- 2012 was 85.59

- 2005 was the outlier at 81.27
I would also like to point out that according to these averages 2 of the 3 best recruiting classes in Gundy’s tenure were in 2018 and 2019.
