Can Spencer Sanders put his Baylor woes behind him?
This will be the first game that osu will play first teams the whole game. And those new starters will have played in 3 games.
We have to take the short game out and watch for jet sweeps and reverses. They have some speed.
They feel wilson at center is better then joe so i hope that translate into less of a push. I know that gundy says they know us but this tempo they have seen and i believe we will have a new rinkle
Hope we have designed plays to get Sanders out of the pocket. Rolling out, he’s accurate and he’s also always a threat to gain good yardage with his legs. AND, it makes the Baylor Big Boy run and change directions more.
Agree I think rolling him out and allowing him to break the defense down with his legs will be huge. We’ve just got to find a way to get yards on the ground because if we become to one dimensional where they’re dropping 7 guys in coverage and getting to mix up their looks drop a DE rush a corner because we can’t run the ball it’s going to be another long day for Sanders.
We need to start the game throwing instead of trying to establish the run. Back up their safeties and make their LBs think instead of react.
First defensive play: put a 3rd team safety in and send him on a screaming blitz up the middle. If he gets a late-hit penalty…so be it. If he gets called for targeting…so be it. Send a message right off the bat that we are coming for blood. Let’s rattle Shapen’s cage early.
First offensive play: triple diamond formation with Richardson, Nixon, and Ollie in there at one time. Give it to Ollie and tell the other two to go find a linebacker or safety to break in half.
Schematically, and logistically, I agree 100% with you, but this game just has a “fight mentality” leading up to it. We need to do everything in our power to kick their a&& up front on both sides of the ball. Sick of hearing how good Baylor is. Show the nation that they are pretenders.
I’m all for running it down their throats if we can. At the same time, I don’t want to see us punting on the first 3 possessions because we cannot run. We have started well this season passing and Baylor lost a lot in their secondary…I just think we can throw on them to loosen them up and then run. But whatever it takes to win.
I just wish someone on the coaching staff had your guts.
If I had gone down that path with my education, I would’ve made a great coach. Instead, I went the healthcare route after years of wandering in the desert like an Israelite in Exodus.
And thank you, I appreciate that!
Your point is well taken. I don’t want us forcing the run if it’s not there early. Sets a bad tone. But I do want to have that killer mindset. This is OUR conference to run. From now on. Baylor simply happens to be the next team standing on the train tracks.
I just wish we can get back to everybody talking about our offensive line and how good it is before I die.
Only the stooges say the line is bad. What i want to know which team has a better line.
That could happen anytime, slow down on the bottle
They have a decent rush defense. I think that’s exactly what they’ll do to start the game.
Who rushes the ball better and who protects the QB more currently?
We are the 2nd offense in the nation. Asking a question is your deflecting again
