Two Crazy Ideas to 'Fix' College Football

Wild ideas, esp the Preseason Bowl Games. Injuries are always an issue, w/ that I can see more injuries happening.

The best idea is there needs to be a CAP on NIL amount for any one player and total cap on programs. It’s insane that a college QB can make more than some first-round NFL picks. It should’ve never been over a million for any player, I would argue $100k to $200k max. And total program NIL at $3 mill. There are a number of programs now in the deep red doo-doo!

Since this is for institutions of academia, there needs to be a degree component to future regulations.

High Schoolers are getting NIL money in many places

If the governing body, ncaa or a new one, puts requirements on transfers, then, yeah they can transfer but if they don’t meet the requirements, they can be a student but not a student athlete. I’m sure attorneys can put in the verbiage that can stick. Another poster suggested a minimum number of successful hours so they meet the “student” aspect of student-athlete.

Right that’s about the only part of the NCAA has going for them is ownership of March Madness. They aren’t going against any type of lawsuit against them in football, they know they will lose. Basketball is about as bad letting as D-league player going to Baylor

In the words of Cardale Jones “We aint come to play school”.

You painted an incomplete picture of what the BYU QB did. His case was unique in how he did it. There was more nuance to it than simply a guy leaving whenever he wanted.

…and others will follow. The NCAA will lose in court if they block transfers after spring practice. All these rules and ideas are useless if they cannot stand up in court. Once these kids gained the freedom of pay to play, then it’s very much like a job and our citizens are free to move about the country for work as they wish.

It happened one time last year in a situation with extenuating circumstances. “The NCAA will lose in court…” Thats another common gripe by the people who are very tired of the state of the NCAA. There is also legs for the NCAA to stand on to where the courts dont get involved. Everybody said that Maurice Clarett would pave the way for guys challenging the NFL draft rule. That didnt happen. There are issues within the current state. But you people go waaaay overboard with what you think is coming.

Just look at the past year how many times the NCAA has allowed player’s eligibility, in part because they have been losing in court time after time. Before the NIL and portal existed players could transfer whenever they wanted. It was that they had to sit out a year that no one really cared. Once you remove the year suspension…I think players will challenge it and find unique ways to still transfer outside of the portal window. Remember when Justin Fields transferred from Georgia to Ohio St because he stated racisms shouted from the stands of a baseball game?

The future is different than you imagine it to be, no matter who you are. None of us are 100% accurate regarding predicting the future.

You are acting as though I said NO ONE will try to manipulate the situation. I never said that. There are more regulations than people think. The fans that are unhappy with the game act like its a sinking ship. They act like there are all of these monumental shifts coming that are going to make the game worse…and it never happens. The NIL and the portal are the two worst things that have happened to the game…and its still thriving
