Week 2 2024 Game Thread, Arkansas

Yep, we are a part of their triple header.

You’re not a Herbie fan? Given the choices, he’s about the most tame in his approach as any of them. There are a few good ones, but I believe there are many more who aren’t nearly as good (e.g. Dusty, Rod, Joey, Andre)

Herbie’s good to me.

Big fan of the 2 minute warning for college.

Made a big difference in the Colorado game. NDST didn’t capitalize, but the addition of the warning helped get them the ball back. They wouldn’t have gotten the ball without the 2 minute timeout.

they also wouldn’t have gotten the ball if Sanders’ dumbass didn’t throw a Hail Mary when he could have burned the clock out. But we’ll ignore that part for now.

No, I didn’t appreciate the Florida state stuff last year and this year. Even if they’re fanbase’s tools they deserve to be in the playoff and Herbie is just a mouthpiece for the c-suite at ESPN. Plus he’s a massive Ohio State homer.

I don’t mind the dude outside of when he’s doing his job, I guess, like he was likeable on the Pat McAfee show, but I just don’t vibe with him as an announcer.

Interesting, I never really pick up that vibe from him. Probably because all I hear is Reese Davis or Chris Fowler screaming into the mic

Herbie said in 11 we didn’t meet the “eye “ text as far as the championship game. Haven’t forgotten that

Neither have I

I’ll never forget the eye test comment. Herbie can go and pound sand as far as I’m concerned.

They have shown in the two games since then that they didn’t belong anywhere near the playoff

  1. idgaf about belonging. They went undefeated and were a P5 champ. They should have been in over Alabama. They weren’t because ESPN has to protect their investment in the SEC.

  2. like half of their team hit the portal after they got snubbed.

I don’t prefer Herbie as an analyst because I enjoy his non-game comments like eye-test stuff. I agree he’s a homer about much of that. I just prefer his style of in-game announcing over most of the other options.

They weren’t because the QB was hurt and was their whole team

Bama and Georgia both should have been in before them, old system was best teams not most deserving, new system mixes both

Herbstreit is head and shoulders over most of the CFB announcers

Regardless of if we like him or not, it’s always good when he does our games. If he’s on the call, more people are watching.

Anyone who isn’t blatantly biased towards OSU, half of OSU fans will see them as biased against OSU. So it doesn’t really matter who’s calling our games.

Herbie is a legend

I didn’t realize all about the history of our series with the Hawgs. The OSU-Arkansas series, in fact, has been one sided in favor of the Hawgs in terms of where we had to play them. From1951-1975 (we started playing them in the 1920’s), we played Arkansas on a semi-annual basis. Every one of those games was played in Little Rock. I guess Broyles thought he owned us. Not anymore. They don’t even “own” the sec. Never have, never will.
It’s time to put Arkansas in their place.

That is crazy. I knew we used to have a rivalry with them but I didn’t realize we played all of the games in Arkansas

I don’t understand why we didn’t have a coach, an AD, or even a president who didn’t make light of this and get the game back to Stillwater on a more regular basis. I don’t think Arkansas in the 1950’s and 60’s was a very wealthy state (before Walmart and Tyson got going at least). They couldn’t have paid us that much to go to Little Rock all the time.
