Takeaways from Saturday’s spring game.

While it’s hard to infer anything from a spring game (especially given the scoring format that was used), it sounds like the biggest concern was the health of the O-line which led to a lack of run game. Hopefully, this won’t be a concern going forward. Other than that, sounds like things are going in the right direction.

Nice to hear a fellow NEO transfer making waves! We’ll win at least 5, 6 games, maybe more. Nice to see a big crowd there, tried to get my oSu friends to go, but they all some things going on yesterday.

Good point about the previous coaching staff being stale. Gundy is a good example of a coach who had done well and should have left when the fans still wanted him to stay, as opposed to when his drive burned out and the fans wanted him gone. This tarnished his reputation after decades of coaching. Oh well, moving on with fingers crossed.

“Tre Page III (Tarleton State) — five carries, 45 yards”

There was a certain “fan” on this forum that complained about picking up this guy. I think you all know who I’m referring to.

In the article it stated that Tom Watts is a walk on…I thought walk ons were abolished ? Or is it that they can have walk ons during the off season but once they break fall camp for the season then you are either cut or become a scholarship player?

He returned 19 starters from a 10 win team the previous year. Then found a way to go 0-9 in the conference the very next season. You won’t find a single P4 HC that’s been able to accomplish such a thing.

He’s the only coach in college football history at the P4 level to do this. Some of our “fans” need to educate themselves. Not sure how you would want to retain a guy that’s put you in the history books in one of the worst ways possible :man_shrugging:.

Bill, everyone knows what happened. All Cowboy fans are aware of what you seem to imply was insider knowledge.

From what I read walk ons are still allowed, but with all the changes to college sports, you’ll see a lot less.

Yeah, who was that?

And are you over here trying to dunk after a spring game? Was he against the first or second team D when he made those carries and got his yards? Was he with the offensive starters? Where is he going to be on the depth chart? How many yards and carries is he going to get this year? Quit trying to throw shade, you clown.

I doubt most of them knew that. Otherwise, any reasonable or logical person wouldn’t bring back a coach that can do that. Then again, some of our fans don’t seem very reasonable to me.

I’d rather be known as the clown that speaks the truth. Not the goal post mover that’s eventually proven wrong :+1:. Which we’ve been seeing since September of 2024 :man_shrugging:.

Don’t care if we win only one game, just glad I didn’t have to hear the Gundy speak. Breath of fresh air. We will win more than one game tho.

That’s a lot of words to say you don’t know the answer to any of my questions and were talking out of your butt.

I hope the kid is a star, but no one knows anything after a spring game.
