Is OSU cursed?
The biggest thing for me before the season started was how the OL would hold up (go ahead HeyChamp, scroll through my past comments and you’ll see). I said if we could sustain drives on the ground it would help out our defense. We look atrocious on the OL. OSU needs to become the university that gives out generous NIL packages for offensive lineman.
I wish we could just go back to the Les Miles days where we would ground and pound our way down the field. Les used to make those boys practice to the very last minute and make them efficient. I expected the defense to give up somewhere around 350 yards or so (I think they gave up 363). I thought they did well given the circumstances our craptastic offense placed them in.
I think the last point is valid.
It’s a terrible loss, but there was something there with Mestemaker/Hawkins/Young.
I do feel that we are a 4-ish win team though because our trenches are crap. O Line got whooped and our pass rush was non-existent. Also, the secondary seemed to lack speed - that’ll really get exposed next week.
How do we blame Gundy for this? The Board of Regents and a decent chunk of the fanbase are getting what they deserve.
lol the Les miles days? Are you kidding me? You are, without a doubt, the most pathetic fan & football illiterate I’ve ever encountered.
I was chalking up the first drive or two to nerves (with QB being off target), but that was the case most of the night. He also checked down a lot. I’m not sure if it was the WRs not getting open (possibly route schemes) or QB not seeing the field quick enough. I don’t understand why we didn’t use Hawkins more early in the game. We were giving Page way too many opportunities when he’s clearly not the RB1. Our OL sucks (and that’s where we, but every other school too, needs to put some serious NIL dollars if we’re going to compete), but it seemed when Sexton went down we lost some serious drive. Can we please throw it to Bowick at least 10 times per game?!?!
Terrible coaching and execution today no doubt about it but I think there is at least something here to work with. I had zero confidence last year that there was a legitimate football team on that field after the Tulsa game.
Unless you like never winning a conference game, or perhaps beating an actual FBS opponent
.
You tell me how much worse it can be? Because we weren’t winning anything under Gundy since 2024 anyway.
I can’t love this comment enough.
He had 1 losing season in 2024 after about 20 years of winning seasons in a row. We’ve played 10 games since Gundy got fired and we’re 0-10. Once president Shrum resigned everything quickly went downhill. We had momentum with Shrum, Weiberg, and Gundy, but look at us now. It’s okay to admit you were wrong.
Bro….you guys are really comical. He returned 19 starters from a 10 win team and went 3-9 the next season (0-9 in conference). That is absolutely terrible. Also, think of all the coaches who had beaten Tulsa in Stilly. He was the FIRST ONE IN OVER 70 YEARS to lose to them in BPS.
He’s the ONLY COACH in Big 12 history to field a football team with back-to-back winless conference seasons. In fact, the last team to do that was K State back in 1987-1988 during the Big 8 days. Then you fools actually think he was going to be the answer going forward? Stop using drugs
.
I’m with you on the coaching. I thought the play calling on offense was pretty horrendous. Hardly any deep balls. We were all told to watch UNT’s games to gain an understanding of how Morris would run our offense (but NO we are not North Texas North!!). So I dutifully watched just enough to see some nice deep balls by DM. Where was all that? And if I’m not mistaken, I think I saw Gundy’s MO of incomplete middle zone pass on first down, run up the middle for one yard on second, and then a middlin’ imcompletion on third down. And then an occasional QUICK RUN UP TO THE LINE AND HIKE! AND OH S**T on fourth down. For all that is holy, please will someone tell them to stop the frantic 4th-and-1 plays. In the process of trying to catch the defense unprepared, we are twice as unprepared. It’s like Keystone Kops watching them try to convert a fourth down.
This was just plain fugly. I swear I heard Gundy chortling at some point.
Gundy didn’t coach a conference game in 2025. Has OSU Football ever had 18 winning seasons in a row? Good job Board of Regents!
Who hired the coaches and put the roster together? Why are you Gundy nut guzzlers always trying to take responsibility and accountability away from one coach, and demonize the other? Your double standards are ridiculous.
Not the Ollie Gordon days or the Chuba Hubbard days when we had rushers lead the nation? Not the Justice Hill days? The Joseph Randall days? The Kendall Hunter days? Who was Les’s OC?
The offensive game plan looked the exact same as what we saw the last few years and that is what frustrated me the most. The only difference is instead of punting and kicking field goals they went on 4th down. Other than that it was a spitting image of the last 2+ years.
The days where Tatum Bell could bust through any line for a 95 yard touchdown run. Those days
. The days where we had an OL that actually knew what run blocking was (consistently).
Bad offensive line play. They couldn’t run block or pass block. He was pressured all game, threw off his timing. Against Oregon it’s going to be a bloodbath…
The Board of Regents you jackass! Did you forget they forced Gundy to hire new coordinators and take a pay cut?
