The Cowboys were chasing the Cougars all night but just couldn’t catch up.

“Mestemaker fumbled in the second half. Never ideal to fumble, but Mestemaker was hit off both edges and then a guy came up the middle for good measure.”

I would say it didn’t help that Adeyi decided to almost tackle his own QB and help knock the ball loose as well :+1:. Go watch the play.

I already gave my thoughts on the instant recap. It was a tale of two halves.

The offense decided to go back to week 1 in the first half while the defense gave you enough. You can’t throw a pick on your own 25 in the second quarter to a team like Houston and expect them not to score a touchdown with our defense (which they did). That put us down 14-3.

I’ll agree the defense looked really bad in the second half. Although I thought they did alright in the first half given the situation our offense put them in. They are what they are. Until Cassity decides that tackling is involved with defensive effort it will be what it is.

Also, we’re halfway through the season now. If they haven’t figured out the red zone woes by now then that’s what we are. Just do us a favor and take the points. You have one of the best kickers in the country. Perhaps put your two fastest players in an option formation and try your luck there :+1:.

We need bigger, stronger, and faster athletes on our defensive interior. That showed all night long. Honestly, I thought they beat themselves many times tonight. I’d rather be 4-2 than 4-20 like the last two years.
