10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 38-14 Loss to West Virginia

I wanted Clements for DC before the doofy move to hire Mason, who was a total bu$t! How about that decision to fire Greg Richmond for Paul Rudolph? Great move, Gumby!

Regardless of if we turn it around or not I just hate watching this team play football. Even last year we won 10 games, but I’d have traded that team for our 4-8 team in 2001 that beat OU and was headed in the right direction or our 7-6 team in 2007 that fought hard and made us think ā€œhey next year could be a lot of funā€ (and it was fun).

At the end of the day this is entertainment (regardless of how much more serious it feels) and it’s supposed to be fun — this isn’t fun anymore.

I feel ya. At this point (since OSU is completely out of it), I’m rooting for one the ā€œHateful Eightā€ teams to win the Big 12. I’m looking at Kansas State or Iowa State.

It’s not just the defensive line. I see opposing receivers wide open with no one within 10 yards of them. An easy completion. Juxtapose that against our receivers that have guys draped all over their backs on every play.

It’s not just fatigue from being on the field. Our secondary is getting fooled. They are not covering the field.

Rangel has had his chances. I know he is put in tough situations but he just doesn’t have that it factor. If I were coach, I would use this bye week for my future QB. This season is toast. Might as well try Flores to see if he can provide that spark. If he can’t, then we know to recruit a transfer for next year. Rangel does nothing for us this season except take up space.

Bowman is awful and the other teams know it. They just load up on Ollie and Gundy is too full of himself to see it.

Ugh.

Pathetic!

The arrogance and ineptness are a rare combination, but we are certainly getting a front row seat in real time!

Not once has Gundy uttered I am responsible, and I’ll clean it the mess I’ve created!

On the topic of Ollie sitting out the rest of the season to save himself for the NFL. Is that still going to be a thing in the NIL era? He’s already getting paid to play. Any player receiving money should be on the field if healthy to earn it.

The last 3 games both offense and defense have been completely dominated at the line of scrimmage. Aren’t we paying Glass a $1 million salary? He isn’t earning his pay.

Former OSU Offensive Coordinator Mike Yurcich is still on the street after being canned by Penn State last year. I’m sure Gundy still has his number. Maybe Yurcich can come back in December and start getting the offense back in order for Zane next year (if he doesn’t portal out.)

It’s telling that our last 3 offensive coordinators are unemployed or should be unemployed. Yurcich and Gleason both got canned at their next jobs and Dunn is somehow worse than both. Mike knows ball, but hasn’t known how to pick a good coach for some time.

Yurcich coached at Ohio State, Texas and Penn State after OSU.

It’s our scheme. We’re trying to run stuff that our OL isn’t built for!!!

He was a QB coach / assistant at Ohio State and Texas. He didn’t even last three years at Penn State before being fired as OC. Gundy holds onto coaches that eventually get fired elsewhere. Unless it’s Monken or Knowles. I will say Yurcich is a lot better than Dunn though.

Matt Campbell has been the ISU coach since 2016. The Cyclones started using the 3-3-5 in the 2017 season. OSU fans would kill for that kind of defensive consistency.

I have been calling for Gundy to be fired for at least 5 years because I knew his 15 minutes was up. I was called every name in the book. Now, here we are. I welcome any and all apologies.

Per google - ā€œNo college football programs have won a national championship using a 3-3-5 defense, but several schools have used this formation with success, including:
Boise State, West Virginia, BYU, SDSU, Arizona, and Michigan (in 2010).ā€

Now one could argue that they say several have had success but only list 6 schools out of 130+. Notice what else you don’t see? Besides Michigan, there are no other big time football programs using it. If it was so great of a formation, the Georgia’s and Alabama’s of CFB would be running it too. That’s all I’m saying. It’s a bend but don’t break defense but unfortunately it’s broken.

Personally I’m a fan of the 4-2-5. Recruit some solid linebackers and edge rushers.

Technically, he is paid for the use of his image or name for promotions, advertising, etc. Not paid for playing, wink, wink. So he could stop playing.

Trace Ford, new edge rusher for OU now.

Gumby had gut feelings for Alex Cate and Bobby Reid. No HC is perfect and never makes mistakes, but his gut feeling once again is wrong. He needs to do like George Kostanza and do the exact opposite of what he thinks is the way to go!

Do you even know what Rob Glass’ job is? He’s not a football coach, he’s the strength coach and one of the best in the nation. :sob:  :joy:
