10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 39-17 Loss to Houston

On shirtless fans and bad football.

I actually think the 0-9 2020 Kansas team is better than this team.

Shout out to section 231. They may not realize it, but they just helped put us back on the map. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if this helps a little bit with recruiting (even recruits that were in campus for other sports). When you have nothing to cheer for and the fans can still do this shows something!

Still awaiting the Gundy statue dedication ceremony date. I need to get time off from work.

Thought #1: We’re the worst P4 team in the country.

Thought #2: I will reiterate my opinion that this next coaching hire will be the most important hire in the history of the university.

I am so depressed. I agree that we are the worst team in the country. And with the defections continuing every week, we have no chance of getting better. I almost wish we were not on television anymore this year so people can’t see how bad we are. I still don’t understand how we fell off a cliff so fast last year. And our new coach will barely have a month or so to recruit out of the portal to try to put together a decent team. So I figure we are looking at the 2027 season to try to get to at least 6-6 and go to a bowl. As I said, I am so depressed. How did this happen?

If it was up to me, all of our remaining games would be buried on ESPN+

As for you question, this has been building. If you look at Gundy’s record the last 3+ seasons, he was 21-21 overall and 14-16 in conference play. He didn’t want to adapt to the portal/NIL. He didn’t want build relationships with our biggest donors, who ended up keeping their money on the sidelines. It was a house of cards that eventually toppled.

The silver lining in this storm is that with the portal, you can flip a roster quickly and get back on the right track. It takes the right coach to use it correctly and get the donors lined up to properly fund the roster.

Complacent coaching, bad recruiting, and bad hiring by Gundy. Told you guys. He’ll burn the program down before allowing any coach at OSU to outshine him and his one conference title.

While I appreciate the logic as to why the PFB guys predicted this game to be competitive, I’m going to request that future predictions don’t include our defense holding the opponent under 30, or the offense putting up enough to cover the spread.

I think it’s best for everyone’s sanity that we just admit to being the worst P4 team, and probably bottom 5-10 in all of FBS.

My future predictions have always consisted of us being under 20 and the other team being over 40 (if it’s a P4 opponent). Then again, I’m more realistic than most on here.

Can we please take Jim Knowles off the list of possible new coaches at OSU. He got his National Title at the other OSU, but now he is stinking up the place at Penn State. He’s too old to give it the energy and time it will take to resurrect this program. Nobody over the age of 40, please!

What about Mike Shanahan? The OC for Indiana? He’s 35 years of age and Indiana ranks 5th in total offense currently.

How is it possible that Gundy left the program in FAR WORSE shape than what he inherited?

Thanks Coach.

Q: When Hauss got hurt, the talk was he MIGHT be back for homecoming…now there’s nothing. No news. No talk. Am I safe to assume Hauss has played his only quarter for the OSU Cowboys?

FWIW: Tulsa’s last two games have been a 31-14 loss to Tulane and a 45-7 loss to Memphis.

Absolutely not defending coach Gundy here but lets give some credit to others who have helped in the demise of the team this year. I’m talking about our AD, BOR and those Donor’s who are wagging the dog with their monetary influence.

Best case scenario is that he plays the last 3 games so he can keep his redshirt.

Personally, I think he’s done for the year.

You guys keep asking HOW. When the real question is WHY.

Gundy hired fired coordinators, and then proceeded to recruit the type of talent that gives you a mid-tier FCS team. His DC couldn’t even last half a season.
