First things first
Actually Iād be OK telling Dunn he can stay on this season as the WR coach but remove all play calling tasks from him. Gundy could take over for the rest of this season. Heās done that beforeā¦
I bet if Gundy would get a long overdue haircut, the teamās luck might change. Heās counting on bringing back the mullet to improve recruiting.
I want a losing season. Iām tired of paying a head coach $7M for this level of garbage
If they make it to a bowl game, we might see Gundy take over the play calling because Kasey will be busy packing.
What are the odds that Dunn returns next season?
Has Las Vegas put out a line on this?
Nardo might get one more chance because of the injuries, but I think he should be given his pink slip. Take Tim Rattay with you and the O-line coach. Do your Division 3 research now Gundy to find the replacements and be sure to overpay them.
Ollie might not last the season with that knee. So every game rests on Bowmanās arm.
Will the big donors bail out Gundy, or will they bail on him?
I may have missed it, but Iāve never seen Gundy say, āUltimately Iām responsible, the buck stops at my desk, and I personally need to do a better job, because Iām responsible for the poor coaching and poor play!ā
Instead, what I see is week after week of buck passing and excuses!
Agreed. Line is the main issue, both sides of the ball.
Bowman has shown himself to be a decent QB, even under pressure, but when you canāt get any run game going, your passing game is going to be tough. OG needs a hole somewhere, anywhere. Heās a great back, but his best runs time and again are when he pauses a half second, waits for the hole to open, and then slashes it and plows over second line defenders. He doesnāt have this because heās running into brick walls.
Defensively, line solidarity isnāt there. Line is getting gashed. Combine with lousy tackling in the secondary and there you have itā¦chunk plays going for 30+ yards.
This has all been the case going back to last season. Something has to change.
You are exactly right! Like in medicine find the root cause and you can properly treat the problem. (Another subject for another day - but most doctors never identify the root cause but are great at treating symptoms of the cause so the problem continues to exist with all kinds of unnecessary side effects etcā¦)
Gundy and his smart ass responses and ego driven decisions is the root of the problem - the assistant coaches are symptoms of the root cause. Get rid of Gundy!!!
PS play Flores before he leaves for the portal
8.5 million. He gets a 1.5 retaining bonus after each season. Great Value, huh?!
Who has Gundy fired since heās been HC? I can only remember two defensive coordinators, Glenn Spencer and Bill Young, and D-line coach Greg Richmond after last season. Howās that new guy, D-line coach, who replaced Richmond working out???
Fat on the hog w/ that 8.5 million beans he gets every year. People get complacent when they make that kinda dough. Chad went overboard paying him that much. Iāve said it many times, a lot of our success is due to T. Booneās generous gazillions and Rob Glass, and for Glass we can thank Gundy.
The Chump Champ speaks!
My guess is he knows a QB controversy will occur if Zane does well and he is trying to avoid it. At some point you have to move from that position and look to next year too.
I donāt think either is a true option, especially Monken. Monken is 58 and while that is only 1 year older than Gundy, do you think he has that drive at 58 to navigate all the new challenges of college football. I think monken is motivated by a Super Bowl. In the NFL, he doesnāt have to recruit or deal with NIL, all he has to do is run the offense. Zac would be a great option, but he has been in the pros so long now, I think it would be hard to pry him away. I would definitely give him a call, but I would bet he would pass.
I think you could potentially get either if its for the HC role and the salary numbers are appropriate. Neither is taking a demotion to become OSUās OC.
Iām talking about the Head Coaching jobs. But I still think Zac has his eye on becoming an NFL Head Coach, rather than having to deal with all the college challenges.
Ahhh, āletās settleā has entered the chat.
Yeaā¦ā¦when your return all of your offensive production, and have the best running back in America I kind of expect you to run for that or better.
We returned the second most starters in the entire country. We should be talking about conference championship and CFP at this point. Not improvement like we just lost our entire team to the portal .
Maybe he can talk about the future 5.3 points per game we average in the first half against P4 opponents.
Thatās what you keep intentionally ignoring. We lost games (got blown out) that we shouldnāt have last season. Thatās happening again this season. Even if they do turn it around. The same stupid pattern will only repeat itself the very next season.
Why is our coaching staff not prepared when the season starts? Why do they need to āturn it aroundā after being embarrassed after the fourth or fifth game of the season is completed? That used to not be an issue. Why is that an issue now?
Iāll tell you why. Itās because weāre holding onto coaches that shouldnāt be here. Tell me something. How can you get worse returning all of your offensive production? How do you average 5.3 ppg in the first half against P4 opponents with what I just mentioned above?
If you want terrible coaching then you better hope we start getting a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits. I can tell you right now thatās not going to happen. So if you want to see better results then you better hope for better coaches. Thanks for at least admitting youāre part of the āitās better than it was 50 years ago!!!ā crowd.
Eh⦠Iām not sure we ever know for sure who gets fired. I think people generally get let go gracefully. Did Mason get fired? Gleeson?
