10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 52-0 Loss to Colorado

Thoughts on Friday’s blowout and the season on the whole.

This feels worse than 2000 when I watched in horror as our own band heckled the team.

Gundy should absolutely be fired!!!

Never once has he said I’m responsible!!!

If he can be fired for cause for his derogatory and unprofessional comments about OSU fans, then send his arrogant butt packing; if not, then give him 1 year to clean up his :poop::poop::poop:

Frankly when he badmouthed the fans, he should have been fired immediately!!!

Dumby is done!!!

I don’t think there’s any better indication that “I’ve lost the locker room” than getting drummed 52-0 on the last game of the season :man_shrugging:.

For me it’s simple: if there are no major changes, then I’m done watching/donating Oklahoma State football.

Got belt to ass like we played the 2019 LSU team instead of an above average Colorado team.

and how did we get here exactly? This season was built on a foundation of Gundy’s arrogance and his prioritizing what was easy and comfortable for him over what was best for the players, the program, and Oklahoma State.

We made them look like the 2019 LSU squad. That’s the issue.

Only one thing I got to feel good about this game was the score. A few days ago I posted that the Buffs will put up 50 or more points and Travis Hunter will have a career day.
Howland looked strong running. But that was against backup players. I never saw such smothering passing coverage as Colorado showed today. Even made Presley look bad.
After Smith’s play today, let’s hope Flores is much better, or else we are screwed.
This team looked like Kansas, Northwestern, and Duke from several years ago.

Smith was still running Dunn’s bleh offense, so I have no idea if he’s as good as he looked against Tech or as bad as he looked against CU. Assuming we’re replacing Dunn (if not, then sorry, but it won’t matter who’s QB next year), I’ll be very curious what style of OC comes in, and whether Flores or Smith gets the benefit.

Saw Carson retweet this gem of a post. https://x.com/zackchristian16/status/1862727356823097655?s=46&t=BmJSzo3MpAPX6US8Dx5BtA It really makes you think maybe it is the time to part with Gundy. We are basically guaranteed a top 3 coach in this cycle as it stands today. All hot seat coaches bought themselves some more time I would think. Only UNC is open so far and Arkansas will likely open up as well. Hell OSU might be able to pull the top candidate since Arkansas is unlikely to be anything more than a mediocre SEC team and UNC is all in on basketball, not football. OU, Florida, Wisconsin, LSU, Iowa, Baylor, Utah, Auburn, Mississippi State, Kentucky, USC, FSU could all be open in the next year or so. I like our chances a hell of a lot more securing a future coach with just UNC and Arky in the mix.

@CarsonCunningham can you and Colby do a deep dive on this if you haven’t recorded yet.

Ok so realistically if OSU fires coaches:
Gundy would have to be fired next week.
I don’t think OSU will.
If Gundy fires some assistants, do you fire them before the signing period or after it closes?

I’m ready to move from Gundy if he isn’t willing to make coaching changes on both defense and offense. Game play calling looked completely opposite of the Texas Tech game. We have a mobile QB playing but yet we continue to do the same scheme from all season which is to use the deep pass game plan to open up the run game. This is too talented offensive team to not put up one touchdown and for allowing 50+ points. I’m giving Monken a call if I’m the AD to see if he’s at least interested. OSU has money and don’t think Gundy is mentally capable any more.

Another thought: Time to retire Mike Dumby, before you destroy your legacy a whole lot more. Cause it’s gonna keep being ugly!

I don’t think Shrum and/or Weiberg have the cojones to tell him ‘adios’. But plenty of NIL donors I’ve read about and/or hear, who were offended by the comments about being miserable, don’t pay their bills and take care of their families, have said they will no longer contribute till delicate genius Mike Dumby is gone.

If they do tell him to walk, I like Texas State’s HC and former Tulsa QB GJ Kinne and Memphis’ Ryan Silverfield or someone young and innovative like that.

@jarrod tagged you since you made the comment about not donating anymore above

Gundy is responsible for failure across the board.

  • He brought in the 3-3-5 disaster. Injuries in the D-line don’t forgive poor secondary play. Nardo, out.
  • He let Dunn going away from the run immediately so often, making Ollie a spectator. Dunn, out.
  • He never addressed what happened to the O-line this year, after success last year. Charles Dickey, out. Kansas ran for over 300 yards against CU last week.
  • He let a QB coach, accept 2 years of Bowman’s bad throwing fundamentals, leading to so many inaccurate throws. Tim Rattay, out.

And since Utah won on Friday, OSU finishes at two games out of next-to-last.

At some point, it’s got to be Gundy, out.
