I’m not saying Bowman is better long-term. Bowman was serviceable last year. He regressed this year, and be needed to be benched. However, I am saying Bowman was the best option remaining since Rangel and Flores got hurt. I’m saying Smith wasn’t ready to play coming into the season as QB4. I think it would’ve been irresponsible to throw him in without meaningful practice reps. Playing him the last couple of games is a good idea since we have nothing to play for and Bowman is done and I assume he’s been getting good reps since Rangel went down.
Saying Smith should have started early this season and is a better QB this year isn’t supported by what just happened. He may never be better, we haven’t seen enough. He’s not ready to start, but giving him starts in a lost season will give him experience and help evaluate him.
Rudolph was our QB3 or 4 and he got us a win in Norman to continue the bowl season. What I’m saying is sometimes you never know what you have sitting on the bench. In Gundy’s case, with how bad he’s been at evaluating the QB, it wouldn’t have surprised me if every QB we had on the roster was better than Bowman. There’s nothing this season that’s showed me Bowman was a better option. Especially when you’ve started off 0-4 in the conference with him before finally trying something different.
That was about 1.) wanting to preserve his redshirt 2.) as QB3 and a freshman, he probably wasn’t getting a lot of snaps before the season, so he probably wasn’t the best immediate option, Garman was just that bad that a freshman was able to catch up and overtake him, freshman Rudolph didn’t come out and set the world on fire, he was just able to throw a couple of completions 3.) sure, we probably lose to OU without Mason, but that win was a gift from Bob Stoops rekicking to Tyreek Hill.
Which kind of crazy are you? Do you believe this lie or are you just a pathological liar and you don’t care if it’s true? He literally tried something different before we lost our first game. He put Rangel in. It was a disaster and people blamed the Utah loss on him not riding with Bowman. He tried to get Rangel to take over a couple of times before giving him the start. Flores got hurt. Smith probably wasn’t ready. He had one alternative and he tried it several times.
Thanks for proving my point. A Freshman would’ve been as good if not better than Bowman. Also, in case you don’t remember, Garman was injured. So had it not been for that then Gundy more than likely would’ve played “experience” instead of giving anyone else a shot. It’s just more proof Gundy doesn’t know how to evaluate his options at QB .
O…k…? When were these 15 games going to happen before Utah? He lost the job the previous year and that proved out when we made the conference championship.
Been well over 24 hours and no one has been fired yet. Honestly quite pathetic. UCF got rid of their head coach quicker than we’ve gotten rid of bum coordinators AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO PAY HIM! This university needs to grow a sack and start making big boy changes.
Don’t ask me. Experience matters more apparently. There wasn’t anything Bowman did at the beginning of the 2023 season that made him any more special than the rest of the guys on the roster. Rangel would probably have his 15 games of experience by now if Gundy wasn’t so hell bent on “experience”. Even if it means riding the bench. Rangel finished off the 2022 season. Gundy should’ve just rolled with him. Nope, let’s stick a guy out there that hasn’t played a meaningful down in 3 years and tell our guy with most recent experience to go kick rocks . I’m sure that won’t affect anything.
We could learn a thing or two from them. I would like to say you won’t hear anything until Monday. HOWEVER, it wouldn’t surprise me if they were stupid enough to keep this entire staff together. If were dumb enough to overpay for bad coaching, then we would be on this issue as well.
Everyone else has started their firings and we haven’t done shitt. We played one of the earliest games this week too. Administration is looking pathetic right now.
