I think another thing with this flip too is early contribution, he committed back when some transfer data was still up in the air and may have been promised early reps, but now he may have thought it was hard to play over Wendell Gregory, and Taje McCoy, AND Chandavian Bradley AND Michael Riles AND Kyron Duhon, all of those are young guys

This is what Illinois is known for? You know this isn’t a basketball topic, right? Oh, you said coach. Yeah, people always talk about Bret Bielema’s championship pedigree. Probably why he’s on everyone’s short list, but he believes too much in Illinois football. He hasn’t won a conference in about as long as Gundy, and the only reason he got to that one is because the TWO teams ahead of him got sanctioned. He’s been markedly less successful since then.
You know the first stupid, hater thing that comes to your mind? Instead of letting it squirt out on your keyboard like an 80 year old’s early bird special into a Depends diaper, maybe give it two seconds to think about it.

You know more about football? What made us 3-9 and winless in the conference last season? Was it “team chemistry” or coaching? Was it the players that transferred out in the masses or almost the entire coaching staff getting fired? Who hired all those coaches?

He only coached at Wisconsin from 2006-2012. For comparison, Gundy won his first conference title coaching from 2005-2011. You talked about one of the teams being sanctioned while failing to mention the fact that Texas either sucked or was mediocre from 2010-2022. You don’t think that helped Gundy at all?
He’s played in better conferences, and had to face more blue bloods consistently than Gundy. It’s common sense as to why he might be less marketable.
That’s sort of my point. @heychamp says some good things, but when he starts with the “Hey Champ” schtick he loses credibility and nullifies everything that comes after

You should automatically lose credibility when you defend one conference title from 14 years ago, as being a justification for it being okay to go 0-9 in the conference.

This is a universally true take. Otherwise you’d see people in real life speak normally to people who agree with them and then randomly begin their sentences with “hey champ” or some variation to those they dislike.

Who allowed Backfoot to come back, and who hired Nardo? If Gundy knows what he’s doing. Then why did it take the BoR coming together and force Gundy to put his ego on a shelf?
Why have we only had one top 50 offense since 2020? Why does Iowa State have more conference wins than us since 2018? Those who don’t learn from history will eventually repeat it.
