There’s more than one way OSU gets to Arlington, including a Bedlam rematch.
The first scenario is flawed. If Texas wins out and OSU wins out, then they both go to the championship game. Texas would beat ISU and drop them out of a tie with OSU. If both Texas & OSU win out, it doesn’t matter what the other teams do.
Scenario 3 is interesting, but you should have added Scenaro 4, which is just like #3, but instead Kansas St beats ISU and the 4 way tie is between OSU, OU, Texas and Kansas St. among these teams.
OSU is 2-0
OU is 1-1
Texas is 1-1
Kansas St is 0-2
So I guess that would be OSU/OU in title game.
Too many “what-ifs” for me. Let’s just win out and let it sort itself out!
GO POKES!
I think I’m supposed to be pulling for Texas this weekend.
If they would’ve just won against the team that’s second to last in the conference, and has the worst run defense in the conference, then we wouldn’t have to worry about this.
Undefeated or bust cries Bill
I’m not asking them to go undefeated. I’m just asking them to beat a team that hadn’t won a game all year against anyone with a winning record except OSU.
You whine after every loss about how you would do it differently. Go apply at A&M
Best believe had OSU lost to OU and beat UCF the narrative would have been Gundy can’t win the big one. If OSU can get back on track and win the last 2 games it looks like they have a great shot of playing for the conference championship. If we lose in the CCG, Joy will be telling anybody who will listen that Gundy has 1 conference championship in 20 years and he’s a loser.
After the way this year started, Gundy has done a particularly good job, BUT after blowout losses to USA early and UCF last week, it is easy to see why many fans are deservedly critical of Gundy. There is absolutely no excuse for those blowout losses. There is no excuse to not being able to rush at all against UCF or for the defense being absolute trash. Gundy deserves criticism for it. This is exactly is what is so frustrating with Gundy: finally get the win against OU and then crap the bed the next week against an inferior team. Inconsistency against inferior teams and, yes, failure to win championships, among other things, are Gundy’s biggest faults. Bill may be a little too critical of Gundy, but if this team would have just taken care of business against two very inferior teams, they’d be in the playoff picture instead of having to win out and hope that something crazy doesn’t happen with Texas to be in the conference championship.
College football fans are a funny lot and Cowboys fans are among them. You have schools like A&M who make incredibly stupid contracts because they want to be the big dog and their fans eat it up. Then, they make even more stupid decisions to fire coaches and the fans eat it up. You have schools like Penn St. that want to fire their coach for not being able to beat the two of the top three teams in the country. On the other end of the spectrum, you have schools like Iowa and OSU. Both have coaches that have consistently won more games than any of their predecessors, but usually fail to win when it counts. Most fans are totally cool with that; some aren’t. The two groups are at each other throats as much as they are their rivals. Add to that the group of people who jump on bandwagons who are now wearing Colorado swag. I guess it takes all kinds of kinds.
@soothsayer
We have seen 3 of the worst offensive performances in program history over the last 12 months: KState we scored 0, USA we scored 3 pts before adding a trash time TD, UCF we scored zero TD’s against one of the worst D’s in the conference.
We could fire Gundy tomorrow, but would still have to stop making excuses for OC Dunn and move on to a best-in-class offensive coach, play callers and recruiter.
It’s one thing if you lost a close game. So, excuse me if I’m a little pissed losing by 42 to a team that was 4-5 at the time. Then you guys wonder why we haven’t won a championship since 2011.
4-15 isn’t necessarily what I would constitute as “winning the big one”. I’m glad he won the last Bedlam (so far I guess), but he’s also lost the big one far more than he’s won it. Also, we’re 1-4 when it comes to a championship being on the line. So there still is some truth to Gundy not being able to win the big one. We also have a history of losing to an inferior opponent the next week after a big win.
I’ve also never said I think Gundy is a loser. I’ve said he’s GOOD, but not GREAT. Great coaches don’t find a way to lose by 40+ to a team with a losing record after beating a top 10 team. They stay focused and on track. How many times do you want Gundy to tell you in his presser he’s been outcoached and his assistant coaches sucked before you finally believe him?
First, I am not a Gundy or bust fan. There have been times that I did not agree with him on and off the field. I am a pragmatist, I see things how they are, not how I want to see them.
Facts:
Gundy 40-39 (.506) vs ranked teams. OSU is 66-159-1 (.292) vs ranked teams since 1958. Thus OSU is 26-120-1 (.176) vs ranked teams without Gundy. The only coaches in the country with a winning record vs ranked teams are (minimum 10 games): Saban, Brian Kelly, Smart, Ryan Day, Dabo, Lincoln Riley, Chip Kelly and Gundy. That’s it.
Some other notable coaches and their records vs ranked teams
Jimbo Fisher 27-28, are you kidding with the resources at Florida St & Texas A&M
Lane Kiffin 9-23
Jim Harbaugh 23-24
James Franklin 12-24 (just at Penn St)
Kirk Ferentz 31-51
Matt Rhule 2-17
Mack Brown 47-66-1 (Texas 33-40)
Steve Sarkisian 16-28
Kyle Whittingham 23-32
Gundy is 12-20 (.375) vs Top Ten teams. OSU is 20-91-1 (.180) vs Top Ten since 1958. Further, Gundy is 11-12 (.478) vs. Top Ten teams since 2011. That winning percentage might not look good in Tuscaloosa, but it’s gold in Stillwater.
I realize Gundy’s shortcomings are Bedlam and conference championships. Those are obviously connected, since the championship usually goes through Norman. OU is the second biggest winning program of all time. Only Alabama, can claim more success than the Sooners.
In the last 3 years OSU has beaten the Sooners twice, Texas twice, Notre Dame and are 9-3 vs ranked teams. Why can’t you recognize and celebrate the Cowboys successes instead of being mired in the losses?
@chris5 Many of us have Bill on Ignore so we don’t see his toxicity.
Gundy has won OState a LOT of games and some big games. We forget that OState beat a good Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl 20 months ago. That was a sweet win over a highly ranked blue blood.
is there an Ignore setting? or do you just tune him out?

Then click on Normal in top left corner next to Message
Select the Ignored option.
I’ve never Ignored before, but have 3 or 4 of the Circular Toxicity Boys on Ignore. It’s a MUCH better experience.
You can always click into their comments if you want to remind yourself why you got off their Toxicity Train.
