Could the Cowboys add to their six-man class?
I don’t get it. Lame duck scholarship offers? The new coaching staff will not have to abide by these offers. What kid would accept this flimsy ghost offer.
You cant decide to offer nobody from Sep to Dec and expect to sign a class. This is normal operating procedure.
No, the new staff isnt obligated to honor these offers. But any 26’ kid that gets offered and verbally commits, the University/New Staff will honor. Thats how it works. Now, if there is offer beyond this current recruiting cycle, then no. That is a different story.
I’m reminded of that scene in Remember the Titans: “I can cover other teams, but I can’t cover these guys. Put Petey in. He’s better.”
“You want him to have your spot? Then you go give it to him!”
I’d rather ride the bench for a championship squad then start for a mid team.
Good info.
By the way ESPN just ranked the 7 P4 jobs an their order was…
- Penn St
- Florida
- Oklahoma St
- Virginia Tech
- Arkansas
- Stanford
- UCLA
Not saying I agree with all of it but just seeing UCLA ranked last is both surprising and expected. Behind Stanford? Wow?
Yeah to me, as long as you have Penn St & Florida at the top with Stanford last…..then I wouldn’t argue too hard. My guess is Stanford’s solid front office structure with Andrew Luck committed to trying to win is the big deal here. I don’t agree with all of it either.
Wait a minute, according to you shouldn’t Arkansas and UCLA be ahead of Virginia Tech and OSU just because of the conference?
“Just because of Conf…..” no. In part because of Conf, as it pertains to OSU….yes. Va Tech is a better job than OSU.
Well ESPN doesn’t agree. (Not that I ever agree with ESPN) Now that Gundy is gone, I believe that this could be a better job with the possibility of winning the conference.
This is a better job than VA Tech in the year 2025. 20 years ago it’s not.
Why do you say that? Give me your reasons?
I don’t think their administration is serious about winning. They’ve been pretty mediocre for 15 years except for a season or two. I don’t think their hiring search committee thing they have going is very serious. I also think the ACC will be in serious turmoil again with FSU, UNC, and Clemson trying to bolt. There are a lot of unknowns with that job that I think puts it below OSU.
I think there are scary parallels to be made between what the post Beamer world looked like VS what the post Gundy era could look like. I don’t think anyone is real confident in the leadership in Stillwater right now. The Conf is always on unsure footing. OSU is fixing to go 0-18 in Conf. Which job is better is up for debate. Again, I’m not gonna argue too hard for or against either. I will say they are similar jobs, in that they’re stepping stones.
I think this program will be flipped around a lot quicker than people think. The Big 12 is wide open and OSU has the resources to compete with anyone in the conference.
The portal & NIL make a quick turnaround possible. No doubt about it
