‘This defense isn’t in the Pac-12.’
Arizona State's Kenny Dillingham Talks Difficulties in Preparing for Bryan Nardo, OSU's Quarterbacks
Already ready for a tough game. I don’t think or suspect our defense will be “vanilla” this game. Little Gundy or Rangel I’d like to see this run game get going and be effective. This running back group excites me.
I think Ollie Gordon has top back in the country potential if we can create holes for him.
I saw one play where Kirkland dominated his opponent and pushed through the line and the back had to go outside where a LB cleaned him up. Kirkland may not have many tackles but he is disruptive.
I think so too, that Michigan St guy seems frickin talented too. We should run the pistol diamond formation with them in there lol.
I know one kid on this team, Mason Gilkey. Good family and all from pawhuska/bartlesville area. Whole family is hard workers. I’d like to see him get a couple catches, he looks faster, more grown, and seems ready now. He might be a gem if he can get some meaningful playing time and catches.
We showed some diamond formation on the first drive.
I don’t think we had Nixon, Gordon, and our transfer guy that I can’t ever seem to remember his name all in there at the same time. But I was kinda joking about it lol. Excited about this weekend though.
We need an offensive line still.
I’m not sure on the personnel but we did have diamond formation. We may have had fullbacks in at 1 or 2 positions.
Elijah Collins
Diamond formation is dead. It’s Kasey “I don’t know what to do” Dunn time.
“I think they’re trying to figure out who can do what with the live bullets. You can say practice is going to simulate that, but there’s a reason veteran quarterbacks have success. There’s a reason Year 2 of starting quarterbacks the jump is so drastic.”
Translation- I’m glad they haven’t figured that out yet. It’s just going to make my job easier on the defensive side of the house. I’m bringing the heat boys!!!
He ran it in the first quarter
Must be taking notes from Matt Rhule on how to build up other coaches and on that Lion Heaux Tequila.
Thought it was rather obvious he has more burst than Nixon!
Where was it afterwards?
He sure does, I like all the running backs we got. Versatile.
Just an opinion from me only, I see it being a powerful run formation or running an option attack out of it. I didn’t always like or pay attention the pistol stuff. But it sorta grew on me. I was in a league some years back and we was killing teams with it. I think Nevada started that and then OSU took it and had a few prolific years with it.
I don’t know if I’m older or younger than you but I still remember when you hardly seen a QB play unless he was sophomore or junior in college. I’m still a believer in it taking 2-3 years for a system to run effectively or even a player to get to his full potential. Seeing a freshman play lights out was rare but these days some guys are just ready. I’d bet a pay check Rangel gets better.
I don’t have a problem with it. I think we have some good running backs. My issue is our offensive line isn’t nearly as good as it used to be.
