‘When you’re playing a team in the SEC, you’re going to play girth.’
“As good an FCS team as South Dakota State is, the Jackrabbits aren’t near as big on the defensive front. SDSU defensive tackles Jarod DePriest and Max Boloun are each listed at 285 pounds. Arkansas DTs Eric Gregory and Cameron Ball are listed at 320 and 324, respectively.
On top of that size in the middle, the Razorbacks D-line features a projected first round NFL Draft pick in defensive end Landon Jackson, who is listed at 6-foot-7, 280 pounds.”
“Our double teams, combo blocks weren’t as good as they could’ve been”.
This is exactly what I’ve been saying. This isn’t South Dakota State. If we’re struggling to run the ball against SDSU then the running game and blocking is going to need to be far better. That’s not me saying this. The HC, PFB, and one of the players are telling you themselves!!!
It’s not like OSU hasn’t ever played vs 320 pound defensive tackles before.
Kansas St’s noseguard is 337 and he was there last year. Ollie ran for 136 yards vs the Wildcats. Kansas had 325 & 310 pound DTs last year and OG ran for 168 and caught another 116. BYU had 315 & 305 DTs and Ollie ran for a school record 5 TDs vs them. WVU had a 317 DT and Ollie shredded them for 149 yards in the 4th quarter alone. Last year before the Cincinnati game all we heard about was Dontay Corleone their 320 DT. Gordon ran for 271 vs them. Having big players is not something new. Did we have our best running game last week? No, we didn’t, but OSU can find a way to block these guys and have a chance to win. One thing about SD ST is that they were very disciplined in gap defense. There was always someone in the hole.
Are any of those guys future first rounders?
He’s one player lol
Hey champ,
Dontay Corleone is potentially a 1st rounder. Why do you run your mouth before you think or even research what you’re saying? He’s been graded a 1-2 rounder, a 2-3 rounder, depending on who you ask, and that was before this season where he might improve his stock, that sounds about the same level as this guy where he’s one of 30-50 guys with borderline 1st round grades. None of that is to say we’re going to dominate Arkansas in the run game or keep Bowman comfortable in the pocket, but your screeching about it just makes you look like a clown.
So is OG.
So is Cincinnati collectively better than Arkansas as a team?
Hey champ,
Just keep pivoting to something else when your last point goes down in flames. Sure, champ, I’ll play your game.
Is Arkansas better than Cincy? I honestly don’t know. We’re one game into the season. Their records were pretty close last year. Cincy’s been to the playoff and Arkansas hasn’t been close to winning the SEC… ever I’m guessing without really checking? I would guess Arkansas is better this year, but if we applied the metric you use about OSU, then Arkansas never goes to conference title games, has lost a lot of games they were favored in over the last decade (even though their new coach is better against the spread thus far), all that good stuff, so I don’t know why you would think they were that good, champ.
You get him pinned down and prove your point he moves on to something else yo be negative about. He’s a troll. Anything anti OSU and Gundy he’s all over it Yea he’s a
you a clown. Edit: fixed it for you.
Oh, I guess didn’t realize the American was on par with the SEC .
You’re right. I almost forgot that getting to the conference title game in the Big 12 is a more difficult route than being in the same division as Ole Miss, LSU, and Alabama . It’s not like Texas had sucked for a long time or anything like that.
I never said they were good. I only said they might be better this season. Anyway, we’ve had teams come through Stillwater and prove you don’t have to be good to win at BPS. Most notably teams such as Central Michigan and South Bama.
Not exactly. I just pointed out his comparisons make no sense.
Hey champ,
Nice try. He’s talking about your thoughtless comment concerning Corleone. Very shifty, but again, you’ve been pinned down. Stop squirming.
Also, as you pivot, you’re acting like I said the American is better than the SEC. It’s surely easier to win the American than the SEC, but it was MUCH harder to make the four team playoff as a G5 school than it is to make it from the SEC because exactly one team managed it. Also, Arkansas hasn’t really done anything in about the last 20 years in the conference. You like to bring up all of these historical data points that don’t really have anything to do with this year except when it hurts your argument. Champ, that’s called arguing in bad faith.
You’re the one that brought up one player after I did. You’re also the one that brought up Cincinnati about making the CFP while they were in the American. Do you honestly think Cincinnati has better players than Arkansas? If Arkansas were to become a member of the Big 12 I doubt they’ll be posting a 3-9 record in their first season like Cincinnati did. I doubt they would lose 45-13 to OSU as well.
Simply put, you’re comparing Cincinnati to Arkansas, when Cincinnati didn’t have nearly as much competition as the former. That’s intellectual dishonesty to fit your narrative. The reason Arkansas hasn’t done anything in the last twenty years is because trying to beat multiple national champions over the last twenty years is a little tougher than trying to beat teams like Tulsa.
You said it’s harder for a G5 team to make the playoff. I don’t disagree with you. Maybe you should ask yourself why Cincinnati made the playoff? There was specifically one factor of why they made it. Can you tell me what that factor was?
Hey champ,
Arkansas played a BYU team that didn’t make a bowl in Arkansas and lost last year. I get that BYU gave OU and OSU fits, but at the end of the day, they lost those games and finished in the bottom half of the conference, so as Arkansas’s only Big XII measuring stick, they didn’t stack up. They’d still be pretty bad to average in the Big XII with a chance to score an upset here and there. Last year, they could have been as bad as 3-9, maybe as good as 6-6. This year, who knows?
They also lost to not very good Mississippi State and Texas A&M. It’s not just the big boys that they’re losing to, let’s not get it twisted. They play to their level of competition and lose more than win.
You’re right. The same BYU team that was ahead 24-6 on us and we barely got by 40-34. So at the end of the day, I think it’ll be a close game like I’ve been saying all along. I just think Arky will barely get by.
You act like we’re immune to losing to bad teams. UCF went 6-7 last season with a fourth quarter meltdown where they let Baylor come back from a huge margin and beat them in Orlando. We went to Orlando and couldn’t score a touchdown. Not sure why you’re real confident for this weekend.
Maybe not, but I also couldn’t say for certain that last year’s OSU team would’ve played the big boys within three points either. Arkansas also didn’t have any losses to a G5 team last season.
Hey champ,
The only G5 school they played was arguably the worst one there is, 1-11 Kent State, so… ok… not sure what that means to you.
Just say yes sir
