Believe it or Not: On Mike Gundy and the 2020 Season

Recruiting better players…
I have observed first hand that HCMG and his staff are afraid to ask the prettiest girl (big time recruits) in the room to dance (sign with OSU) as she (recruit)might say no.
Therefore, the company line is they (OSU) won’t spend time at high schools where they have no chance. How do they know if they don’t even ask?
She might just say yes!!!

So explain why Dax Hill didn’t come to oSu. We had his Brother, we recruited him. The coach can’t make a player come to oSu. As for the offensive line… It has been working towards getting better. When a couple of players make bonehead decisions it’s not on the coaching staff. We have Dickey from K-State now. I’m guessing you have a different O-Line coach in mind?
You are right about not all of the high star recruits as being undesirable. If you can get them to sign you should offer your services. Just saying, it’s pretty to sit on the outside and criticize.

The reasons Dax Hill didn’t come to OSU:
2015 Darrion Daniels
John Kolar
2016 no 4 stars
2017 Tylan Wallace
LC Greenwood
2018 CJ Moore
Spencer Sanders
2019 Grayson Boomer
Deondrick Glass
Langston Anderson
Are you seeing a trend here?
3 have had any significant playing time. 6 have transferred. In a 5 year time period we’ve had 9 players with a 4 star ranking, you have 2 on the team playing.
You can say what you want but that’s not a player problem, it’s a coaching problem.
You mentioned that the offensive line is getting better. It took 7 years to go from his 1st year coaching to winning the conference. He’s had 7 straight years of offensive line trouble and you see improvement this year? Also, if players are going to be kicked off the team for bonehead decisions, shouldn’t the coach be fired for years of bonehead decisions?

Not a great idea to send a graduate assistant to offer a generational talent.
